About the role

  • Become part of Solvay’s Communications and Government Affairs team, composed of 25+ people

  • As a Director Funding Excellence, you will work on identifying and accessing government funding opportunities to propel key transformation projects at Solvay around the world, as we transition our energy and move towards carbon neutrality by 2050. You will get the opportunity to contribute to our sustainability ambitions and growth initiative and have a positive impact on the long-term objectives of the organization.

  • You will be accountable for:

  • Leading strategic fundraising development: lead the Center of Excellence of Funding developing and implementing Solvay’s fundraising strategy

  • Development and implement Solvay’s fundraising strategy, making funding an integral part of project development start-to-end, and implement and execute proper internal processes and actionable and feasible execution plans

  • Act as the central driver and initiator for Solvay’s funding projects ensuring best use of available opportunities and properly assessing funding criteria, and compliance with financial and tax regulations

  • Development and implement Solvay’s fundraising strategy, making funding an integral part of project monitoring and reporting on the progress of fundraising activities and financial targets: report and advise the company investment committee on the progress of current funding applications and advise senior leadership on funding trends and potential impacts

  • Maximizing the return of funding opportunities: leverage internal and external experts, lead the identification of new funding sources, anticipate future funding needs, maintain and foster good relationships with funding authorities

  • Building capabilities and enhancing compliance: facilitate knowledge and best practice, mentor and develop the cross-functional funding team and provide training

  • Ensuring compliance with all legal fundraising regulations and ethical standards: oversee the implementation of a Solvay funding management policy, identify potential risks associated with funding projects and develop strategies to mitigate the risks

  • We offer a permanent contract based on hybrid working mode.

About you

  • Relevant education degree or equivalent in economics, political science or legal

  • Relevant work experience in acquiring funding for energy transition and environmental projects of at least EUR/USD 5 millions

  • Competencies:

  • Deep knowledge of national, regional and institutional funding programs

  • Experience in managing a large portfolio of opportunities and projects and ensuring successful delivery within tight deadlines

  • Understanding of the political environment influencing and support for industrial companies

  • Behaviors:

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Interpersonal and communication skills in multinational context

  • Decision-making, problem solving approach

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the primary country (Belgium) base pay reasonably expected for this role is 119,000 euros to 148,000 euros, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
