UW-SYSTEM-CENTRAL ADMINISTRATION Web Coordinator in MADISON, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 20849 POSITION SUMMARY This position will work with the Office of Public Affairs & Communications (OPAC), as well as with the Office of Learning and Information Technology (OLITS), UW System Administration (UWSA) website managers and editors, and other programs as deemed necessary. Position responsibilities include website training and user administration; maintaining and enforcing UWSA website policies; helping ensure OPAC website content is current as well as ensuring that all content on the UW System public website and the UWSA intranet is current and continually managed. This position also supports broad website goals to manage and coordinate the content between various UW System websites to ensure that the content aligns with the UW Systems mission and values; and continually improve UWSA digital content via analytics. This position reports to UWSAs Internal Communications Manager (OPAC) . MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Website Administration & Maintenance Co-lead web governance and administration of the UWSA website, working with OPAC communications and creative staff, IT, web editors, and publishers. Work with OPAC creative lead to ensure website is properly branded. Ensure website content is current and programs properly maintain their webpages. Help ensure OPAC website content is current. Other administration and maintenance tasks as needed. Training, Facilitation, and Outreach Train Content Management System (Wordpress) editors and administer user permissions. Help write and maintain user guides for editors about Wordpress features. Respond to editors/user questions and assist with content coordination where needed. Promote user-centered, accessible practices, monitor, and communicate legal issues when they arise. Communicate website information architecture to ensure structure and style/brand is followed. Build and maintain relationships with website managers and editors. Gather and coordinate new project intake by consulting with stakeholders, investigating user needs, and assessing current interfaces. Collaborate with technologists and website designers to facilitate the creation of new WordPress features. Help plan projects, manage timelines, and communicate with partners throughout the life cycle of projects. Web Analytics Set up and train WordPress editors on currently used web analytic tools. Review web analytics to understand user behavior and help website managers identify opportunities for improvement. Synthesize research results, develop recommendations, and advocate for users based on quantitative and/or qualitative evidence. Develop personas, use cases, user stories, and journeys to support the design and development process. Promote ongoing user research and usability testing to continuously seek feedback from users. Experience with Google Analytics, SEO, HTML/CSS, web content management systems. Ability to understand the technical underpinnings of websites and applications (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, frameworks, databases) a d to collaborate effectively with technologists. Experience with collaborative, iterative design, and development. Experience with creating a variety of user experience or service design deliverables (e.g., information architecture, sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes, service blueprints, content strategies, and project documentation). Experience working with complex user needs and organizational requirements in team environments, as well as managing multiple projects simultaneously with different deadlines and a diverse set of stakeholders. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree Experience with WordPress content management System. Experience working as a team lead on web-related projects involving both content and technical issues with staff involved in web, communications, and information technology.
