We are looking for a talented Quality Assurance Engineer to join the Amazon Kids team in Madrid, Spain. You will be able to utilize your development skills in a real-time, large-scale, distributed environment. Key job responsibilities

Quality Assurance Engineers at Amazon test cutting edge applications and products. Our QAEs are able to understand the customer and business use cases, software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests with scripting tools and/or user-level automated tools. They are excellent individual contributors capable of taking up tasks from start to completion with minimal help. They are responsible for owning and driving large-scale customer-facing applications and capabilities from inception to delivery and beyond. Your solutions will be part of consumer products used everyday by people you know.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with Product & Development teams to design and implement the test strategy to deliver quality consumer software product.

  • Write test plans, test cases and provide suggestions on improving the QA processes.

  • Lead a team of testers that will help you execute on the test strategy.

  • Ensure our products meet high standards of quality, performance, security and reliability.

  • Implement test automation leveraging test automation frameworks while driving processes to reduce manual test coverage.

  • Define quality metrics and implement measurements to determine test effectiveness, testing efficiency, and measure the overall quality of the software.

  • Help tackle cross-platform engineering challenges and contribute creative ideas to peer quality engineering team.

A day in the life

You will use your experience with quality assurance engineering and problem solving to tackle difficult test scenarios. You'll work independently and with your team (other QAEs, SDEs, TPMs, and Product Managers) to create test plans and test cases. You will lead a small team of testers that will help you execute your test plans. You will hold the development team accountable for the quality of the code they create and asses the testability of components and features to continually improve our product. You will keep abreast with best practices, write efficient and reusable automated testing and also demonstrate judgment around which test cases should be automated. You'll understand our product inside and out and spend a lot of time using it. Any given day will be spent developing test strategy, writing test cases, verifying the quality of our product, and driving best practices across the org. Most of all, you'll work in an environment where we have fun while challenging each other to delight our customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in quality assurance engineering

  • Experience in automation testing

  • Experience in manual testing

  • Experience as QA lead on medium to large sized projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing a variety of software stacks including web, backend, and mobile clients.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills

  • Knowledge of industry standard test automation tools and experience developing product test harnesses

  • Great project management skills
