Citigroup Senior Corporate Communications Lead - Madrid in Madrid, Spain

The Business & Corporate Communications Sr Lead is a professional accountable for complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. External and internal communication are frequently needed. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a writer of remarks leadership teams

  • Content creation across a variety of formats including speeches, presentations, keynote addresses, video scripts, written communications to employees and external stakeholders, and panel remarks.

  • Serve as a writer of internal announcements for leadership teams

  • Work with department head to develop comprehensive internal executive communications programs for Citi's Leadership team

  • Create engaging original content for use across various platforms including employee communications, social media and with external stakeholder groups

  • Assist with broader employee communications program as required

  • Assist with digital communications program as required

  • Develop, maintain and deliver regional profiles and other materials as required

  • Assist on corporate initiatives

  • Development and implementation of the external communications strategy to maintain and strengthen reputation among the key audiences, based on the business and marketing strategy, global and local priorities

  • Promotion of the key advantages of the company, its products and services with external and internal communication instruments among key external audiences and employees

  • Building and strengthening work with the key media pool, key audiences and their representatives. Influencing company’s reputation in the public sphere

  • Anti-crisis communication and mitigation of communication crisis

  • Development and execution of the social media practice usage to strengthen company’s positioning and reputation.

  • Conduction of the public opinion research and development of informational campaigns and services to strengthen company’s positioning and reputation

  • Organize and assist the public speaking of business/function management team (speeches at the forums and conferences, interviews, commentary in the media).

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communications (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills, including tact, diplomacy, and ability to influence senior executives

  • Integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive professional attitude

  • A team player who will implement initiatives effectively and motivate others to perform their tasks

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Experience or demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment within a heavily matrixed organization

  • Track record of success in delivering high quality work in a fast paced and dynamic environment

  • Critical competencies include oral communication, written communication, project management, relationship building, results orientation and strategic orientation

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business management, communications, marketing or another related field
