Boehringer Ingelheim Government Affairs Manager in Makati, Philippines

The Position

Responsible for developing and executing high impact policy positions and Government Affairs programs, aimed at ensuring a favorable business environment for Our Business in the OPU.

Understands the external political environment and potential governmental developments.

Supports the business in developing a strong corporate affairs presence and strategy to help ensure an environment where patients have access to our medicines, now and in the future.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse political and legislative developments, including government health policies, and assess the possible impact on our business and reputation, providing insight and counsel in key business planning decisions.

  • Direct, devise and execute strategic plans to leverage or mitigate upcoming changes and trends. Promote business goals through thought leadership and structured advocacy.

  • Enhance visibility and give Boehringer Ingelheim a prominent voice with policy makers.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key policy stakeholders to advance our business goals and further develop our reputation as a credible and respected voice in the life sciences sector.

  • Lead advocacy outreach to relevant politicians and parliamentary groups, being the initial face of the organization with these individuals.

  • Lead the response to relevant Government consultations on behalf of the business to help articulate and implement policy positions.

  • Lead, manage and co-ordinate our engagement with relevant trade associations. Actively participate in relevant groups.

  • Instigate, develop, and drive approval of all relevant letters, documents, positioning papers, slides etc (approval process) (with agency support where appropriate).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any related field

  • An expert in the field with at least 5-7 years of relevant experience, who has extensive experience of working in politics/Government Relations at national level

  • In depth understanding of Human Pharma Healthcare policy and/or Animal Health policy.

  • In depth understanding of the issues facing the pharmaceutical industry and a grasp of its regulatory environment.

  • Track record of implementing advocacy strategies to shape a policy environment in pursuit of organizational goals.

  • At ease in building strong business relationships with a network of senior politicians and policy makers.

  • Established relationships with external stakeholders, an advantage.

  • Confident in explaining complex policy issues to internal audience to strengthen understanding and engagement across the organization.

  • Maintain strict compliance with all applicable policies and laws, especially those related to interactions with government officials.

  • Team player and strong collaborator.

  • Confident public speaker, able to engage a room of individuals with different perspectives and position a potentially controversial argument.

  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to articulate messages clearly and concisely in an engaging style perspective.

  • Ability to priorities work under pressure and deliver to agreed deadlines.

  • Thoroughness, accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.

  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and in a team.
