Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) has an exciting opportunity for an e3 (excellence, everywhere, every day) business operating system team member in our Malabar, Florida. e3 provides a common language, processes, and metrics across the enterprise and includes regular reviews and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. The SAS e3 team strives for operational excellence across all business and functional areas and processes by deploying Lean tools and/or Six Sigma principles. The e3 team plays an active role in driving accelerated operating and financial performance through continuous process improvement and execution of breakthrough strategies.

The selected candidate will work closely with assigned Sector, Division, and/or Functional leadership and organizations to develop and manage the execution of strategic initiatives. Senior professional with strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of project management. Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight. Communicates with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures Makes moderate to substantial improvement or enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of job area. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are complex and may require comprehensive information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results. Typically responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees. Typically responsible for managing complex projects at this level, involving delegation of work and review of work products.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with segment functional organizations on continuous improvement projects/roadmaps to achieve maximum effectiveness, efficiency and productivity.

  • Coach mentor coworkers on business operating system, operational excellence framework and associated standard work.

  • Report project portfolio status to Operations and Business/Functional leadership, including preparation of financials and presentation materials.

  • Lead segment/site level initiatives as assigned.

  • Communicates with contacts within and outside of own team which may include customers or vendors.

  • Explains and interprets operational processes, practices and procedures of the job area to others within the organization.

  • Works to achieve operational targets within job area with some impact on department results.

  • Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.

  • Responsible for achieving assigned financial and key performance indicators/metrics.

  • Work consists of making basic adjustments to systems and processes to solve problems. Identifies, defines and addresses general problems that are typically within the immediate job area.

  • Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis.

  • Works is performed with general oversight.

  • Sets objectives for own job area to meet the goals of projects and assignments.

  • Responsible for improving upon existing or establishing new processes and systems using significant conceptualization, reasoning and interpretation.

  • Knowledge and application of lean/six sigma tools, principals, and problem-solving methodologies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal/written communication skills; effectively interact with all levels of management.

  • Implement lean initiatives to identify and eliminate waste out of processes, reduce cycle times, and drive cost savings.

    Qualifications:

  • Skilled and/or certified in Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Black Belt.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

  • Graduate Degree or equivalent with 4 years of prior related experience.

  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

  • Ability to obtain security clearance may be required.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Proven leadership skills with collaborative style that will facilitate interaction with colleagues and corporate partners.

  • Effective presentation and meeting skills is preferred.

  • Proven track record continuous improvement projects success.

  • Strong project management, analytical skills, financial and business acumen is preferred.

  • Ability to lead, coach, and provide guidance/training to develop associates.

  • Self-starter, action oriented, “can do” attitude, resourceful, and team focused.
