Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Batch Plant Operator to support operations in the state of Virginia area. This position will be responsible for supervising the mixing process to ensure that producers use the correct combination of cement and water, testing batches to confirm they have been made to specifications, and addressing any issues throught several Holcim plants located in the Virginia.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Prepare the plant for daily operation and keep the plant and equipment clean and in good operating condition

  • Monitor inventories within the plant.

  • Implement and supervise duties established by Plant Manager

  • Batch concrete loads according to mix designs and specifications

  • Take ready-mix orders from contractors.

  • Work directly with other dispatchers to schedule multiple-load jobs

  • Work directly with other dispatchers to schedule multiple-load jobs.

  • Efficiently operate the plant, including the mixing and blending of materials.

  • Reading dispatch orders and understands required needs for production of materials

  • Complete inventory on a monthly-basis.

  • Order inventory as needed

  • Fill plant with aggregate while operating a wheel loader

  • Ensure all jobsite equipment is properly maintained, clean, and in safe working order.

  • Conduct routine maintenance work on plant and equipment (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.)

  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems, repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts, including thinking out of the box for hard to find parts

  • May be required to operate heavy equipment when needed.

  • May perform other related duties

  • Complete all applicable reporting in a timely manner.

  • Develop drivers' schedule and approve time in time management system.

  • Establish a culture that supports safety. Ensure compliance with all federal, state and company regulatory policies and procedures.

  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet daily goals.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

  • Customer Oriented - Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures.

  • Responsible - Ability to be held accountable or answerable for one’s conduct.

  • Decision Making - Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures

  • Candidate must have a minimum 1 year experience with concrete batching experience in ready mix or concrete paving

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of concrete batching technology, equipment, methods, and safety is required.

  • Candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Must be able to lift 75 - 90lb, and ability to climb up and down plant, stooping and kneeling.

  • Ability to work effectively and establish good working relationships with other employees

  • Ability to analyze and repair mechanical failures

  • Must be able to organize and lead people

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc

  • Ability to communicate effectively on radio/phone system

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
