Sony Pictures Entertainment Manager RTR GFO, Motion Picture Group in Mandaluyong City, Philippines

Sony Pictures is looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented and analytical Manager to join our Global Finance Organisation! Based in Manila, the Manager for the RTR GFO – MPG (Motion Picture Group) will be responsible for accounting, monthly financial reporting, and related analysis functions coupled with continuous process improvement, standardization, and simplification.

This role will have a high degree of interaction with CapGemini (CG), our outsourced accounting provider, and will be responsible for providing training and oversight to the MPG Accounting team members at CG. The ideal candidate will partner closely with Divisional Finance (Planning and Forecasting) and provide support in gathering and analyzing data to gain business insights. The successful candidate will be adaptable and responsive to taking on new tasks and projects when the organization invests in new businesses or deals.

Experience in the entertainment industry is preferred.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for the Balance Sheet accounts, providing detailed analysis on key balance sheet areas and reviewing supporting schedules.

  • Ensure effective financial controls (SOX) are followed; prepare and review schedules provided to external auditors during quarterly and year-end audit reviews.

  • Prepare and review Corporate reports and inquiries monthly, quarterly and annually.

  • Responsible for various journal entries.

  • Manage and work closely with CapGemini team, review their work, provide desk top procedures for new tasks transitioned to them and provide guidance when necessary.

  • Perform analysis of actual results to most recent budget and forecast estimates – preparing appropriate variance explanations thereon and highlighting issues to management.

  • Review of MPG film labels such as Screen Gems and highlight the key performance drivers.

  • Review, interpret and summarize contracts with appropriate application of accounting policies.

  • Continuously monitor financial processes and make recommendations for improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency; implement those recommendations where applicable.

  • Assist in preparing accounting documentation and memorandums for management and audit review/approval.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Typically 6+ years strong Accounting experience (Big 4 a plus)

  • Entertainment industry experience preferred

  • BS degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred

  • Direct experience with complex ERP systems and General Ledger postings (SAP a plus)

  • Understanding of film accounting (film costs, ultimates, amortization)

  • Strong MS Excel skills required (Modeling, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros, etc.)

  • Experience working with offshore personnel and providing oversight and review of their deliverables

  • Strong time-management skills, ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast, deadline-driven environment

  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and problem solve with reasonable independence

  • Ability to self-review and produce accurate, reliable and high quality work in an efficient manner

  • Strong initiative, ability to work independently and meet deadlines while understanding when to update and seek guidance from management

  • Ability to lead/follow-through with co-workers on projects/tasks by setting guidelines, timetables and clear sense of expectations

  • Strong level of communication (written and verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills

  • High emphasis on team work, collaboration, critical thinking, process innovation while maintaining a positive attitude

  • Ability to develop presence and become a key “go-to” person within the department

  • Ability to prepare and present issues/projects/presentations to co-workers and senior management

  • Comfortable working and navigating in different systems

  • Change agent and champion mindset

  • Flexible and willing to work night shifts to cover PST working hours.
