The TD Insurance Accident Benefits Claims Department is responsible for delivering ease and value to our customers through simple, fast and fair claims resolution. Our department also ensures financial results by focusing on the client experience, strong risk management, a well-run operating model and by being an extraordinary place to work.

Job Details

If you're analytical, organized and have a passion for health and recovery, we want you to join our team. Reporting to the Team Manager, this role handles predominantly medical files. You'll be provided with opportunities to develop professional and technical competencies.

As the Accident Benefits Claims Advisor, you'll identify and meet client needs by acting with urgency, ensuring a timely and thorough investigation of the claim, and identifying client eligibility and/or entitlement to their available benefits. You'll also ensure injured clients have quick access to all available benefits so they can return to optimal function.

*Make an Impact:  *

  • Gather, organize, and verify documented information from all available sources to ensure a thorough and complete compilation of facts required to resolve the claim.

  • Interpret reports and evidence to draw accurate conclusions about proposed treatment(s) and/or repairs and/or actions.

  • Maintain effective case handling, priority of payment, loss transfer, and loss reserving for routine telephone claims.

  • Evaluate non-complex medical files and recommend treatment plans that do not result in the individual requiring time off from work.

  • Contribute to team productivity objectives by maintaining a positive file count and open/close ratio.

*Experience Growth:  *

  • Remain current in case law, legislated regulatory changes and recent settlements which impact accident benefits claims.

  • Support other TD Insurance businesses during critical events and peak volumes. Partnered Claims Teams include:

  • First Response Center

  • Catastrophe Claims

  • Automobile & Residential Claims

Job Requirements

What You Need to Succeed

  • Post-secondary education in health (kinesiology/health sciences) or insurance preferred

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to meet expectations of internal and external clients.

  • Proven ability to negotiate win/win outcomes when reasonably possible.

  • Demonstrated professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen actively, ask questions and communicate clearly.

  • Strong ability to conduct thorough investigations, analyze evidence effectively and identify discrepancies or gaps in data and reports.

  • Actively working toward a role in Accident Benefits as part of your career development plan

  • Candidates pursuing their Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and/or other relevant continuing education are preferred.
