Your Opportunity

Our Markham office is currently seeking a Transportation Engineering - Senior Project Manager to join our team of project managers, technical staff and multi-discipline specialists in the completion of road and transit/rail projects. You will lead a team of professionals in the design and construction of medium/large scale projects in roads and transit based sector. The projects will be in various phases from conceptual planning, through design, construction, and occupancy.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects as an Owner’s Representative. Managing the approved scope, budget and schedule are of utmost importance.

• Communicates daily with the client and project team.

• Lead the Design Team consisting of the Engineers, Equipment Planner and other consultants.

• Day-to-day project oversight and communication with the client and project team.

• Distribute meeting notes to the project team.

• Develop, track, update, forecast and modify the project schedule and budget throughout all phases of the project.

• Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors.

• Prepare monthly reports to owner.

• Assist in plan reviews and inspections.

• Understand and assist in the negotiation of contracts of all parties to the project.

• Review and approval all invoices and change orders associated with the project.

• Evaluate, advise on and assist in resolving disputes and claims.

• Regular collaboration with colleagues in our multi-disciplined design office.

• Financial management of projects and resource allocation.

• Business development support and leading proposal development.

• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• Project Management Professional Designation PMP is an asset.

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as good relationship building skills with respect to your interactions with team members, clients and contractors.

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word and Excel is required.

• Experience with MicroStation, InRoads and other design software will be considered an asset.

• Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines while work independently.

• A strong work ethic with the desire to excel and to achieve.

• Willingness to learn and a motivated team player.

Education and Experience

• 15 years of experience in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience.

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent degree. Civil Engineering Technology diploma or university degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Registered Member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario PEO or with The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians.
