Collins Aerospace Mission Systems is looking for an Antenna Servo System Design Engineer based in Marlborough, MA, with responsibilities having significant impact, recognition, and growth in the organization. The engineer will have responsibility for the design, development, integration, and test of cutting-edge antenna pedestal assemblies used in satellite communication terminals used in a variety of airborne, shipboard, ground transportable and ground fixed applications. The engineer will implement best practice standards with regard to the planning, coordination, and implementation of antenna design and servo systems modeling with sound engineering process discipline and guidance. The effective candidate will have a thorough foundation and experience in dynamic real-time servo system design with specific knowledge in antenna pedestal or robotic control.

This position is eligible for relocation assistance.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 8 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience • Experience in analog circuit design and servo system design, modelling, simulation and test of complex mechanical systems • Experience using MATLAB and Simulink to build accurate system-level plant models by defining the complex dynamics of each component in your plant to create the system-level plant model • Hands-on multi-disciplined team-based experience • Experience with EE design tools: MATLAB, Simulink, Keysight ADS, and Mentor Graphics’ Design Suite • Effective communication skills, both oral and writing as well as thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) • Broad based hardware engineering background with emphasis on complex electromechanical based products • Proficient in use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, synchro resolver simulators and other general purpose test equipment • Proven ability to take a design concept from the block diagram or requirements level and develop a complete hardware design and verifying via test and integration • Pointing and tracking error budget analysis and demonstration • Estimating and proving servo performance (velocity and acceleration dynamics, bandwidths, step response) • Antenna control unit functions and features • Servo system component selection (motors, resolvers, sliprings, gear boxes, IMU’s, Motor Control Electronics) • Experience with design of Antenna Pedestal Assemblies and or Robotics • Ability to Obtain a SECRET Security Clearance or HIGHER

Security Clearance: • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarization with inertial measurement units, guidance systems, acquisition, pointing and tracking of satellites, synchro resolvers, compass assemblies, inertial rate sensors and gyros • Experience with brushed and brushless motors and associated open and closed loop motor control

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
