Job Description Summary:

Job Overview:

The Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal is an integral part of the IP team that provides IP support services to in-house clients across multiple functions at Rocket Software. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for technology and intellectual property law to contribute to the success of a rapidly growing software company. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of intellectual property concepts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Working knowledge of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets

  • Provide general administration support to the IP legal department

  • Maintain and organize accurate and up-to-date records of IP assets and related legal matters

  • Coordinate with outside counsel and schedule meetings

  • Monitor the IP mailbox, distribute correspondence to appropriate team members, and ensure that all inquiries and action items are addressed

  • Review invoices and track IP department spend

  • Arrange for processing of Purchase Orders and Invoices with Accounts Payable

  • Assist with preparing documents and filings

  • Search USPTO and WIPO databases for trademark and patent records

  • Assist with M&A diligence and integration activities

  • Identify opportunities for improvement in processes throughout the department

  • Handle additional projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree with Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution and significant experience in the software and high technology industries required

  • 5 + years of experience working as an IP Paralegal in a law firm or corporate setting

  • Familiarity with intellectual property legal terminology, practices and principles

  • Experience with IP portfolio management and a working knowledge of USPTO

  • Extremely process driven and focused

  • Strong attention to detail and impeccable organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines.

  • Must be self-motivated, responsive and enthusiastic, with the ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Effective written and oral communication skills are essential. Ability to clearly present information, in writing and orally, respond to questions from executives, managers, customers, and other employees, with focus on client service

  • Diplomatic, approachable, and possessing good business and personal judgment

  • Must manage conflicting demands from multiple business clients in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a quick learner when it comes to new software tools

  • Inherent ability to act with the highest integrity and professionalism

The base salary range for this role is $74,671.00 - $93,338.75 /year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
