Description:
The Executive Director, Primary Care functions in a dyad leadership role with service line physician partners to provide strategic, programmatic, and operational oversight of primary care clinical programs across all Loyola Medicine regional sites of care. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall growth and development of the service line and its associated clinical programs including the development and execution of an annual operating plan. They work collaboratively across the continuum of care with health system leaders to achieve strategic and growth objectives as well as meet quality, safety, patient experience, operational, and financial goals.
Position Responsibilities
STRATEGY & GROWTH: Develops plans and proposals, in partnership with service line physician leadership, to expand and grow the service line and associated clinical programs across relevant Loyola Medicine regional sites of care. Presents plans to health system Executive Leadership, the Clinical Leadership Council, and other approval groups as needed. Leads implementation efforts to achieve service line goals and objectives.
FINANCE & OPERATIONS: Maintains oversight and accountability for regional service line financial performance and partners with health system and clinical leadership to ensure proper stewardship of resources. Builds high-performing teams and ensures optimal service line staffing models in place to deliver financially sustainable, high quality patient care. Manages labor and non-labor expenses within direct span of control. Monitors reimbursement trends of governmental and non-governmental payers for clinical program services and works to achieve revenue excellence goals across the regional service line.
EXPERIENCE: Partners with health system and clinical leadership to identify opportunities to improve services provided so that patients, families, and physicians report an outstanding experience with the service line. Continually assesses service line clinical programs for opportunities to increase value and experience for those receiving care from the service line.
QUALITY: Collaborates with clinical leadership, hospital and ambulatory operational leaders, and quality and safety teams to optimize the continuum of care for patients and families who receive care from the service line. Develops quality plans to address performance issues in order to achieve service line and/or organizational quality and safety goals.
REGULATORY: Collaborates with Clinical Excellence to ensure ongoing and continuous compliance with Joint Commission, IDPH, and other regulatory and accreditation agencies through development, implementation, and monitoring of system to ensure a high level of performance. Seeks and achieves certifications and external recognitions to advance the service line and related clinical programs.
NETWORK DEVELOPMENT: Engages with Business Development and Outreach teams to establish, expand, and support outside relationships and partnerships that enhance service line clinical, financial, and patient experience goals and objectives. Serves as an accountable Loyola leader for external partners and addresses issues that strengthens and affirms mutually beneficial relationships.
MARKET: Monitors market and business trends that affect the service line and networks with local and national associations to understand evolving care model changes, new technologies, and novel clinical or operational practices. Advances new services or other development opportunities to internal stakeholders and ensures Loyola Medicine's clinical programs are responsive to changing market and patient needs.
INFRASTRUCTURE: Ensures facilities and available technologies meet the programmatic needs of service line patients, families, physicians, and clinical teams and advances improvement or optimization opportunities for consideration by health system executive and physician leadership. Develops proposals and business plans to ensure facilities and technologies are efficiently utilized and are responsive to stakeholder needs.
Minimum Education:
Master's degree required (MHA, MBA or MSN or other related degree).
Minimum Experience:
10+ years of previous job-related experience required.
Managerial Experience:
5+ years required
