Job Summary:

  • The Supply Chain Chief Engineering (SC CE) organization, within the Office of the Chief Engineer, provides senior-level Engineering coordination with SC leadership to drive resolution of procurement issues, address supply base gaps and improve functional processes & coordination that impact the Raytheon business.

  • SC CE partners with SC leadership to identify and lead Engineering-focused improvement initiatives that improve both tactical and strategic execution within and across Raytheon programs.

  • SC CE will perform supply base quality & delivery performance analytics (systemic issues and contract delinquency analyses) and engage to drive technical solutions across programs and suppliers to improve On Time Delivery, as well as non-program specific challenges to supply base performance.

  • As the technical interface to SC, the SC CE focuses on SC care and supply base performance & preparedness.

  • Accountable for alignment between design strategies/technology roadmaps and supply base capability & performance.

  • The SC CE will be responsible for collaborating and partnering with the various SC organizational leaders across Product Commodities, Strategic Business Unit Procurement & SC Functions, and engaging deep into the respective areas (including cross-functional collaboration) to develop and facilitate appropriate technical solutions at the appropriate levels to positively impact the business on both short term and long-term time frames.

  • The SC CE will perform a wide variety of tasks that enable/facilitate improved performance across the multitude of areas that Engineering and SC intersect (e.g. the design hand-off, procurement process, strategic planning (technology, supply base capability, digital thread), and areas where there may be healthy tension between the functions, while maintaining alignment with the program CE’s and program initiatives.

  • This role entails significant cross-functional/cross-business collaboration and high visibility within the business.

  • Experience in solving complex problems (both strategic & tactical) with elegant and effective solutions is required.

    Responsibilities to Anticipate :

  • Provide senior-level Engineering coordination with SC leadership and technical interface with SBUs

  • Partner with SC to identify and lead Engineering-focused & cross-functional Improvement Initiatives

  • Perform supply base quality/delivery performance analytics

  • Advocate/lead Technical Requirements Understanding Sessions (TRUS), Supplier Risk and Readiness Assessments (SRRA)

  • Provide technical support for APQP/PPAP deployment, PFMEA & RESA Chapter 4, 5 & 7 and other supplier engagement activities

  • SC Sourcing Strategy development, execution & BVSS support

  • Perform as a technical liaison between Raytheon and key suppliers throughout the entire product life cycle

  • Drive effective technical evaluations and Sole/Single Source Justification in support of cost & price analyses

  • Proposal development, risk identification & mitigation planning and bidding

  • SSOW review and oversight to ensure technical adequacy

  • Meet organizational performance metrics and goals

  • Engage regularly with Program Leads to provide ongoing schedule updates, EAC inputs, and associated Department and/or organizational level approvals

  • Frequent interaction with multi-disciplined Engineering Team Leads, Chief Engineers, and Program Managers to ensure team members are meeting the needs of our internal and external customers

  • Must be able to travel up to 25% between Raytheon sites and supplier locations

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, Mathematics, or STEM related field with 10+ years.

  • Engineering experience in designing, building, testing, and supporting production build & delivery commitments

  • Experience in presenting and communicating technical data and information to Sr. level internal stakeholders and customers

  • Experience in leading technical teams and/or product delivery efforts on Programs (experience on Defense and Space Programs highly preferred)

  • Experience building, coaching, and facilitating diverse teams with the proven ability to successfully integrate, motivate, and lead

  • Experience developing strategies and managing complex products and multiple priorities concurrently

  • Direct experience with supplier engagements, strategy development, technical & capability assessments, requirements translation & understanding, and supplier performance management

  • In depth, hands-on experience in cPDM, PRISM & Kinaxis to analyze LOB, PROP, metrics and reports BoBJ report generation & analysis

  • Detailed knowledge of RESA, DFSS, ESPX, IPDS, Commodity Strategy, Raytheon design and procurement processes

  • Experience with Key Product Characteristics (KPC), robust manufacturing engineering, producibility and affordability practices

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or above level Clearance, U.S. Citizenship required

Qualifications We Value:

  • Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, Mathematics, or STEM related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.

  • Factory and Manufacturing experience (knowledge of Raytheon manufacturing procedures highly preferred)

  • Chief engineering, Transition to Production experience

  • Strong initiative, persistence, creativity, and solution-oriented approach to solving complex challenges

  • R&O management

  • Experience in developing departmental processes & tools and executing improvement projects

  • Able to work with minimum supervision

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Solid leadership & change management experience

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
