The Naval Expeditionary Department (N234) provides unbiased and data driven systems engineering expertise to enhance Fleet Marine Force lethality by solving complex problems for our Marine Corps sponsors. We work to enable the Marine Corps’ Force Design transformation across the warfighting and supporting establishment enterprises so that Marines can compete, fight, and win in a dynamic, complex and increasingly contested maritime environment. The Expeditionary Department works across a broad set of key outcomes and other mission areas including Next Generation C4, Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations, autonomous systems, enterprise and organizational transformation, base infrastructure resilience, and digital acquisition.

Roles & Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a dynamic Agile Systems Engineer to join the MITRE Expeditionary Department. Our team is at the cutting edge of developing novel concepts, technologies, and methodologies that bolster present and future Naval superiority. This role requires creative problem-solving abilities, utilizing Agile systems of systems engineering practices to make significant contributions across the enterprise and create strategic impact. The ideal candidate will have operational and domain knowledge of the Marine Corps, coupled with a comprehension of Agile and systems analysis. The selected candidate will work with diverse and geographically dispersed teams to address our sponsors' most pressing queries about the application of Agile systems engineering principles to create value.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience in a related field; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step

  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS

  • Ability to quickly build collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and team members across the organization to help them in their Agile journey adoption.

  • Able to assess the current delivery environment and provide strategic assistance in tailoring Agile techniques, concepts, and approaches to improve value delivery.

  • Experience performing various Agile roles (i.e. Release Train Engineer, Scrum Master) where needed, while helping to grow others into the role.

  • Ability to engage government leaders and coalesce them around defining the context, problem space and vision to determine capabilities, priorities, road maps, transformation plans and next steps.

  • Experience using tools to successfully transition to Agile methodologies and ability to provide general guidance for tools setup (e.g., Confluence, Jira).

  • Experience with consolidating and reporting project status updates and issues.

  • Has facilitated and participated in the collaborative process of identifying and capturing systems engineering data with engineers and technical subject matter experts.

  • Experience preparing and maintaining technical systems or program documentation, integrated master schedules, comment resolution matrices, presentations, and training material.

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or greater in a technical discipline (e.g., information systems, systems engineering, computer science, information technology).

  • Knowledge of Navy, Marine Corps, Joint, and Interagency domains.

  • Knowledge of the DoD Human Resource Development Process.

  • A current/active DoD Top Secret clearance.

  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework.

  • Facilitate cohesion and alignment across the organization.

  • Develop solutions to program and project issues.

  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in systems engineering meetings and events.
