PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Director, Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Analysis at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership to the development, growth, and administration to the Portfolio Analysis function of the $2B Commercial Real Estate (CRE) program at PenFed, which includes a portfolio of organic and syndicated loans. The incumbent will lead analysis in support of the Portfolio Management team, partnering with internal stakeholders including but not limited to Credit, Treasury, Legal, and external stakeholders (partnering financial institutions).

  • Oversee deal-level and portfolio-level financial modeling and model governance for PenFed’s Commercial Real Estate portfolio.

  • Perform annual and quarterly reviews at the deal-level for loans in portfolio. Including managing a team of analysts and working with Portfolio Management to accurately assess the risk of the portfolio.

  • Manage team that supports Portfolio Managers in asset management functions, including scenario analysis workouts, modifications, and routine monitoring.

  • Lead the implementation of ARGUS at PenFed, including initial model buildout for each deal in the portfolio and developing model guidance/practices.

  • Supervise development of reporting for Board, Management, and Regulatory reporting for CRE portfolio.

  • Develop and oversee analytical processes to support the evaluation and detailed credit analysis to assess the financial strength, collateral value, and repayment capacity of borrowers.

  • Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices to include but not limited to Loan Loss Reserves, CECL Methodology and Risk Management Three Lines of Defense to ensure compliance and drive innovation in commercial real estate lending and portfolio management.

  • Prepare and present reports and updates on portfolio performance, risk assessment, and compliance to relevant stakeholders.

  • Develop modeling to assess impact of CRE portfolio projects on the Enterprise Balance Sheet and Income Statement and communicate those impacts to partners across the organization.

  • Ensure compliance with Board policies and Regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant financial experience.

  • 4 Years direct management supervisor experience

  • Experience with ARGUS and Advanced Excel modeling strongly preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge in review, analysis, and underwriting all product types related to commercial real estate loans and personal/corporate financial statements pertaining to Sponsors/Guarantors.

  • Strong knowledge of loan structuring with ability to balance credit union objectives and borrower expectations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will directly supervise employees.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
