Job Description: Workers will perform work including but not limited to planting, digging, mulching, transplanting, mowing, watering in nurseries and fields. Fertilize, spray, space, water, tag and perform other plant maintenance. Load finished plants onto wagons and trucks. Plant,dig and harvest field grown plants, perform general maintenance of field grown plants. Crops include over 200 species of native plants, wildflowers, and wetand plants. Plants muust be handled carefuly to ensure that minimal leaves,limbs and roots are not broken during trnsplanting process.
Plants, cultivates and maintains in condition for shipping and sale to customers small shrubs, trees, wildflowers and wetland plants. Pots seedlings, prunes, transplants, spaces, irrigates and culls plants to ensure availability of marketable products. Packs, labels, pulls and stores plants acording to variety. Uncover and or recoer winters storage houses. Weeds, mows, loads/unloads trucks and wagons. May operate tratcors and other mechanical equipment under supervision. Performs any other duties involved in the maintenance of plant materials and nursery stock and maintenance of holding yards and shipping areas.
In addition, workers may be required to perform variable tasks such as the following: irrigation, ditching, shoveling ,hoeing ,hauling, ground preparation including weeding and other tasks related to a nursery operation.
This job requires a minimum of 3 months of verifiable prior experience working in a tree, dormant bioengineerintg material or wetland plant nursery, handling both manual and machine tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities. Saturday work required. Post hire paid drug testing required. Must be able to lift/carry 60 lbs.
