We are currently seeking a Water Resources Principal Engineer with proven experience driving technical outcomes in floodplain and stormwater management.

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Water Resources Engineer to join KBR’s Water Resources team in Melbourne. With recent project wins, this role offers exposure to major multidisciplinary projects with a large network of clients, stakeholders and skilled professionals. Our multidisciplinary team means we are able to apply a wholistic and integrated approach to engineering solutions.

You will collaborate with a national team of Water Resources practitioners, bringing you access to a national pool of project options within a variety of industries and available roles including managing projects and work-winning activities.

Who You Are:

You bring a demonstrated history working on projects with water resources undertakings in an engineering consulting environment.

You will have the following skills and experience:

    • 15 years’ plus recent local experience on projects within the Melbourne Water or Catchment Management Authority flood modelling and mapping sector and/or infrastructure design.
    • Knowledge of relevant Melbourne Water technical specifications including up-to-date best practice in flood modelling.
    • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local legislation, regulatory frameworks, guidelines and policies, and experience applying it to achieve practical outcomes in the field of water resources in Australia
    • Experience in numerical modelling (hydrology, hydraulics and groundwater), including TUFLOW, RORB, URBS, HEC-RAS, MUSIC, GOLDSIM and solid experience with GIS applications (QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo)
    • Experience in preparation of bid budgets, writing proposals and business development activities would be highly regarded.
    • Ability to provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
    • Chartered professional engineer (CPEng) or ability to achieve this status in 6 months of starting
    • Registered Professional Engineer
    • Hold an accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • Other highly regarded skills and experience:

    • Knowledge of technical function of wetlands, including industry manuals for wetland design.
    • Demonstrated experience within the field of wetland rehabilitation and design.
    • Understanding of civil design requirements for wetland projects, inputs and outputs.
    • Experience working with relevant water authorities
    • Beneficial skills include experience with CAD applications and Python coding.
