A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) is seeking a full-time exempt Director, Clinical Performance Center. This position collaborates with the Assistant Dean of Clinical Curriculum, IPE, and Simulation to deliver quality, evidence-based experiential learning, simulation, and interprofessional education to ATSU SOMA medical students and Health Profession learners on the Mesa, AZ campus.

The Director works with program leaders, faculty, and CPC staff to ensure the educational, administrative, and operational initiatives of the CPC are delivered through the mindful collaboration and allocation of center resources. The Director will interact with and be involved in the use of technology ranging from standardized patient interviews to AR/VR, and high-fidelity simulators. The director is responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation, as well as participating in research projects pertaining to simulation training. The director must provide the leadership required to ensure services are delivered within the scope, time, quality, and educational impact of expectations set forth. He/she engages in life-long learning, demonstrates exceptional management skills, and promotes the interests of the center in various professional and community settings.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees scheduling of center functions, management of facilities, utilization of equipment and staff.

  • Manages rental agreements, service/maintenance contracts, and vendor relations.

  • Monitors inventory, usage, and needs; makes recommendations and assists in the procurement of equipment and supplies.

  • Tracks expenditures, works with the Assistant Dean of Clinical Curriculum, IPE, and Simulation on budgetary directives and determination of cost structures for the utilization of space, equipment, and personnel.

  • Responsible for all logistical considerations related to simulation training, assessment, research, community outreach, and events, including the primary support and logistics of simulated/experiential learning activities that take place outside of the simulation center, both on and off campus, within or outside of typical business hours.

  • Critically evaluate and report on all departmental data. Provide enterprise data for the CPC.

  • Oversees the performance and professional development of the CPC team, including standardized patients, coordinators, technicians, SP educators, specialists, and administrative assistants.

  • Works with HR and executive leadership to ensure hiring and personnel policies are followed.

  • Assist in the development of outcome measurements and evaluate simulation activities for educational outcomes and quality assurance.

  • Collaborates with the Assistant Dean of Clinical Curriculum, IPE, and Simulation along with program Course Directors in the design, development, implementation, and assessment of individual curriculum, translating educational goals into practical applications within the simulation environment.

  • As Director of the CPC, provide unbiased collaboration across programs and team-based supervision.

  • May serve on ATSU-SOMA committees and/or interview ATSU/SOMA candidates for admissions as requested by the Dean.

  • Promote and preserve the mission of ATSU-SOMA.

Education & Experience:

  • College Plus Postgraduate studies: Healthcare, Education, Simulation, Business, Technology.

  • Must have a professional healthcare license.

  • A Master’s degree or fellowship in Medical Simulation and/or business is preferred.

  • 1-2 years of experience working in a medical simulation center.

  • 2-3 years of experience working in a hospital or clinical setting.

  • 1-2 years of experience leading teams and/or project management, operations, or business strategy.

  • Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task with reliable delivery of tangible outcomes.

  • Must possess exceptional communication skills – interpersonal, written, verbal, and public speaking.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Google Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Slides, Drives. Canvas LMS, etc.

  • Must possess dynamic leadership and project management skills. Demonstrates strong interprofessional and patient communication skills.
