NBC Universal Director Production Management in Miami, Florida

The Director of Production Management leads a team that focuses on the comprehensive formulation of production plans, cost control, and production productivity for Telemundo Studios' linear and streaming properties. Reporting to the VP of Production Management, the role is instrumental in ensuring alignment amongst key stakeholders and activities for internal and third-party productions.

Job Duties:

  • Lead a team of Production Managers to ensure alignment between Telemundo Studios production team, third-party producer, client, and other relevant business units' expectations and budget.

  • Work closely with the VP of Development, the Executive Producer, and the Production Manager to formulate production plans.

  • Oversee the preparation of schedules, milestones, and reporting derived from the Production Managers for internal productions and third-party producers for external productions.

  • Collaborate with Production Finance on budgeting and cost reporting to propel cost efficiencies and accurately classify expenses.  

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose alternatives to achieve them.

  • Handle project vendor negotiations.

  • Collaborate closely with Telemundo Studios production team/third-party producer to navigate operational challenges across all production stages.

  • Liaise with internal departments (e.g. Network, Finance, Business & Legal, Standards & Practices, Rights & Clearances, O&T, etc.) for effective dissemination of information and assets.

  • Work with pertinent departments to ensure all aspects of compliance are met.

  • Evaluate and monitor production productivity reporting, including data quality, functionality, and benefits. 

  • Ensure work is performed under Telemundo Studios' infrastructure's technical guidelines and operations procedures.

  • Identify and improve workflows and processes within the department and productions.

  • Manage a growing team of Production Managers and Coordinators, offering guidance and support as they oversee program-specific production details.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to refine production processes.

  • Cultivate a collaborative work environment that fosters innovation and professional growth.

  • Keep the VP of Production Management well informed of area activities and significant impacts on productions.

  • Work with management to provide additional areas of support. 

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the production of scripted programming, long and short format.

  • Additional experience in the production of documentary &/or unscripted genres preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, media or business administration.

  • Candidate must demonstrate real world production leadership experience.

  • Exhibits extensive knowledge of production management.

  • Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • Must be able to perform job at locations in and outside work environment with varying weather conditions.

  • Exhibits working knowledge of health and safety requirements.

  • Proficient in MS Office, MMB and Internet search engines.

Desired Characteristics:

  • The ideal candidate has a unique blend of live action scripted production with knowledge of docu-series/documentaries, and unscripted.

  • A proven track record of managing successful productions.

  • Exposure and connection to a healthy list of production industry companies and individuals.

  • This role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of multiple productions produced both internally (and externally). This successful candidate will have expertise in budgeting, logistics and organizational development.

  • Drive efficiency and improve quality by implementing tools, best practices, internal frameworks, components and standards.

  • Superb organizational skills with ability to create executive presentations, budget summaries, production plans, multi-project timelines, etc.

  • A confident, professional, and persuasive communication style with senior leaders and team members.

  • A passion for creative problem-solving and strategic thinking.

  • Ability to remain flexible and calm in high-pressure situations and adjust as multiple moving parts consistently change.

  • Work in a production environment with ability to work off hours and weekends as necessary.

  • Experience with attaining film production tax credits and incentives.

  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to mentor, coach and develop staff is a must have.

  • Proficient in Movie Magic, Microsoft Office.

Additional Requirements:

  • This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

  • Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment.

  • Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area.

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
