Hours:Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm with occasional weekend and holiday flexibility.
Location:Middletown, NY
Rate of Pay: $22.00 per hour
OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES :
The Senior Dispatcher has the primary responsibility of creating, distributing and managing the weekly driver schedules and route assignments. The Sr. Dispatcher is responsible for finding weekend and off hour coverage and will be required to fill in driving when coverage cannot be found. The Senior Dispatcher must be able to work independently and professionally to support unexpected route and personnel changes. This position will communicate regularly with customers, clients, program supervisors, leaders and co-workers in a timely and cooperative manner. The Senior Dispatcher must have the skills to negotiate and logistically coordinate alternate route assignments for the most efficient schedule and route. Complete other duties in a timely and efficient manner.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS :
Work with the Dispatcher/Driver to complete the weekly drivers schedule and ensure that all routes are covered for a 24/7/365 operation.
Drive routes when there is not ample coverage of drivers. Including weekdays, weekends, days, nights and holidays
Assign vehicles to drivers/runs and update the dispatch log book
Keep the Driver Schedule board up to date and communicate with the drivers in regards to any passenger updates and/or road conditions
Update passenger attendance report daily
Will be required to be a part of the on call rotation
Conduct van certifications and wheelchair trainings
Responsible for adding new passengers into routes and acquiring all necessary information (PPA)
Assist the agencies Fleet Liaison in moving vehicles to and from agency properties/maintenance vendors
Will be responsible for managing various projects within the department
Flexible and adaptable to changes, callouts and staff time off requests to fill in as a bus/van driver when other coverage cannot be found
Cross-train with Program Assistant to cover assigned responsibilities, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES :
Valid Class B CDL with passenger endorsement
Excellent driving record required and a clean driver’s license
Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Able to work independently and manage time efficiently
Knowledge of Orange County and the surrounding geographic area
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma or equivalent
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS :
Must be able to sit at desk and perform computer tasks
Must be capable of driving routes up to 5+ hours long – day and night
Occasional lifting of > _25+pounds
PERCENT OF TRAVEL: 0-50%
