The Environmental Data & Information Management (EDIM) team provides support for Dow sites across the globe to capture, collect, extract, evaluate, and report data to meet external regulatory requirements and Dow’s Sustainability goals. It is our mission to provide quality, consistent, accessible Environmental information as the basis for evaluating and selecting environmental business solutions.

About you and this role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the EDIM team and collaborating with our partners to provide expertise on environmental reporting work process. This includes expertise on the Sphera Essential Suite™ along with SAP Waste Management functionality so that environmental data can be gathered, managed, and reported such that it supports Dow’s efforts in Regional Regulatory Reporting and Global Sustainability.

You will have the responsibility to ensure that, as changes occur in Dow’s reporting tool functionalities, they function correctly and support the reporting activities with the necessary data integrity. You will also be responsible for ensuring the sites, functions and businesses can readily access this environmental data including the development and application of reports and queries. This role requires problem-solving skills to address a wide variety of issues related to the application software, its use, the ancillary systems and the utilization of the data in support of environmental reporting globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the global regulatory landscape surrounding environmental data reporting

  • Pursue a standard of excellence and challenge the status quo, balancing appropriate risk with both short term and long-term gains

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and seek feedback on tools and work processes to enhance employee experience

  • Implement the Business strategy by providing leadership for the technology, developing the vision for the future enhancements and leveraging global technical resources

Skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Strong communication skills, problem-solving ability and experience managing multiple projects and priorities among a group of stakeholders

  • Strong computer technical skills and continued improvement in knowledge of critical desktop software, specifically working knowledge of MS Excel

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant

  • A minimum of 5 years of science, engineering, or related experience

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Preferred skills:

  • Chemistry expertise

  • Enhanced knowledge of environmental regulations associated with data reporting

  • Experience at a manufacturing facility in an environmental role

  • Experience at a manufacturing facility in a production role

  • Enhanced knowledge on using SharePoint, Excel and the Microsoft Office suite of tools is recommended

  • Basic knowledge of how the environmental reporting work process integrates with other Dow work processes

  • Basic knowledge of how to work within Sphera Essentials application functionality that is used to support environmental master data including materials, air, water, wastewater, waste specifications, safety data sheets, and labels

  • Basic knowledge of how to work within SAP ECC application functionality that is used to support waste master data including materials, specifications, safety data sheets, and labels

  • Basic knowledge of SAP Business Warehouse and the SAP Change Management tool

  • Basic knowledge of plant processes and equipment as associated with the activities that sites utilize in reporting environmental data

  • Basic knowledge of environmental regulations and reporting requirements

  • Basic knowledge of computer systems

  • A degree discipline in a Science or Engineering field
