Job/Position DescriptionCPI Master Investigator VThe position will conduct investigations in counties across the state experiencing a high number of delinquent investigations. Work will include investigations of new and/or delinquent investigations.The position will conduct investigations that are of a high profile nature and/or provide consultation and assistance to staff regarding complex protective services cases and issues. The position will serve as a mentor and provide training to investigation staff.Travel = 90% of timeThis position requires a minimum of 4 days a week travel out of region depending on deployment locations.This position can be housed in ANY Region at any DFPS office. Essential Job FunctionsInvestigates reports of abuse/neglect to children to assess current or future risk to children by interviewing parents, family members, and others; interviewing and examining children; assessing home environment; and gathering pertinent information from other sources.and#149;Determines action to be taken to remove or to reduce an immediate threat to the safety of a child to include testifying in court to seek emergency protective services, placing children in substitute care, referring family for immediate crisis intervention therapy or other community resources.and#149;Enters contact, documentation information and narratives into the Information Management Protecting Adults and Children System within required agency time frames.Develops and maintains effective working relationships between Child Protective Investigations staff and law enforcement officials, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and other community resources.and#149;Attends and participates in training/meetings/staffing.and#149;Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations.and#149;Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work-related contacts.and#149;Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsNoneKnowledge Skills AbilitiesKnowledge of child development.Knowledge of family dynamics.Knowledge of Child Protective Investigation policy and procedures.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.Skill in effective verbal and written communication.Skill in developing effective working relationships with CPS staff, law enforcement and community members.Skill in investigating and resolving difficult child abuse or neglect cases.Ability to evaluate investigation records in relation to the department standards for quality and quantity.Ability to review open investigations and determine appropriate actions needed to ensure child safety prior to case closure.Ability to utilize the functions of the Tablet PC.Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Ability to work with other professionals in the community.Ability to assist an employee having problems in job adjustment or performance.Ability to work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision.Ability to travel statewide for extended periods of time.Initial Screening Criteriaand#149; Must have graduated from high school or equivalent.and#149; Must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university.and#149; Experience as a Child Protective Investigations Specialist III: Employed as a Child Protective Specialist for 18 months AND have received Child Protective Specialist Certification OR currently employed as a Child Protective Specialist III in Texas Depart https://jobshrportal.hhsc.state.tx.us/ENG/CareerPortal/job_profile.cfm?szOrderID=597766 Copy the URL in the preceding sentence to an Internet Explorer browser to apply to the job directly through the Texas Health and Human Services Career Portal.
