This position will report directly to our Vice President of Finance and work closely with the Door Group Finance team and business leaders.

What would you do as our Controls Engineer?

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, you will provide manufacturing engineering expertise by designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control systems, machinery, and processes in our manufacturing facilities.

You will also:

  • Analyze plant processes, equipment, and design to implement process and product improvements.

  • Help to find creative solutions and make improvements in the areas of electronics, mechanics, engineering, and integration of automation/robotics.

  • Research and evaluate new processes for manufacturing requirements.

  • Interact and collaborate with maintenance, tool room, support, and production teams.

  • Proactively detect problems and implement solutions and improvements in order to prevent quality issues and downtime.

  • Work with internal departments, while utilizing external sources to compile and analyze information necessary to implement positive ideas and solve routine problems requiring analysis and solutions.

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing problems and cycle time constraints.

  • Measure and analyze parts and products and can tweak all elements within the data processing system to maximize both function of product and best manufacturing practices.

  • Be able to demonstrate strong cause-effect analytical abilities to solve problems.

  • Continually promotes a safe and harmonious working environment.

  • Assures compliance with federal, state, local and corporate governance policies, regulations, and laws, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

  • All other duties as assigned.

    The skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, Electrical Engineering preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role required.

  • Experience with database structures and tools to support shop process data collection.

  • Previous experience with PLC equipment and supporting hardware. Direct Allen Bradley systems programming experience preferred.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and 3D software (SolidWorks or Pro-E), and Microsoft Office programs required.

  • Press, stamping, MIG and spot-welding, as well as CNC experience preferred.

  • High level of analytical and ability to gather and interpret data and resolve technical problems.

  • Understanding of safety guarding and safety circuits with robotic cells; prefer OSHA 30Hr training.

  • Self-motivated and have excellent communication, reasoning, and follow-up abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to design & implement mechanical, electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic automation.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to thrive in a manufacturing / shop environment with a high level of integrity with a strong sense of urgency and the a bility to prioritize projects under tight time deadlines.
