PPG INDUSTRIES, INC. Development Chemist – Polymer Synthesis in Milford, Ohio
PPG Industries, Inc. in Milford, OH seeks a Development Chemist -- Polymer Synthesis responsible for development and synthesis efforts in the Packaging Coating - Polymer Synthesis Team, working collaboratively with other scientists and engineers to advance understanding of the relationships between coating formulation, material properties, and performance across a broad range of high impact R&D projects. Specific duties include: (i) designing and executing a polymer experimental plan utilizing a variety of routine polymer synthesis laboratory operations in a research setting; (ii) performing experiments by following polymer synthesis procedures, capturing and analyzing all data, and recording detailed accounts of experimental processes and results; and (iii) communicating progress on projects and new initiatives to the broader PPG research community as well as collaborating with other PPG scientists and engineers across R&D and manufacturing.
Must have a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related technical field of study.
Must have any experience with or knowledge of: (i) polymer synthesis, chemical characterization, and data interpretation; (ii) developing synthetic routes to improve or optimize processes; (iii) mechanisms of organic reactions; (iv) polymers structure and mechanical properties relationships; (v) managing multiple projects and chemical inventories; and (vi) Microsoft office products as well as ChemDraw.
