JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for recording, entering, monitoring and maintaining accurate weights and records of all vehicles using the Solid Waste Complex. To collect, record and submit daily receipts for fees collected in the operation of the scale house.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Identify and source all refuse brought to the Solid Waste Complex * Operate and maintain weighing equipment in accordance with regulations set forth by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Weights and Measures and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection * Operate and understand the computer, software, printer and equipment located in the scale house building to assure accurate recordkeeping for all refuse carrying vehicles coming in and out of the solid waste complex * Accurately collect and/or record tipping fee for customers of the solid complex, maintain daily money sheet to track all monetary transactions * Ability to maintain efficient flow of vehicles in and out of the solid waste facility * Provide information to all customers and co-workers in a helpful, courteous manner * Recognize, track and maintain accurate records for all bulk waste deposited at the solid waste facility * Regularly scheduled to work Monday through Friday, regularly scheduled to work Saturday hours in rotation with other trained employees * As directed, contact 911 in the event of an emergency situation * Generates incident reports as necessary and delivers them to the Facility Manager * Must be able to manually maintain the operation of the scale house and essential functions * All other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform duties * Strong basic math skills * Ability to be precise, accurate and alert in handling daily work and responsibilities * Exhibit strong interpersonal skills with all customers and co-workers * Ability to recognize and identify different types of waste hauling vehicles * Ability to understand and meet standards of practice for the function of this position * Ability to learn and understand the rules, regulations and guidelines set forth by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Weights and Measures, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the Cumberland County Improvement Authority * Ability to assist customers and general- public using the solid waste facility * Ability to perform necessary backups and report generation as required by the Authority and other government agencies * Ability to provide courteous and helpful service to customers, the general-public and co-workers * Must be Bilingual in English/Spanish

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position may require all or some of the following: Driving, standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, seeing, feeling, grasping, climbing, balancing, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching with hands or arms, lifting up to 50lbs and exposure to environmental conditions.

Monday - Friday (7:15am to 3:45pm) with some Saturdays and Working Holidays. The position is eligible for the full benefit package offered by the Authority.
