The Opportunity: We're looking to hire an Apprentice Carpenter that will be responsible for assisting in the installing, repairing, sanding and finishing wood floors. Responsibilities: * Assist in Cut, shape and assemble wood, using shop tools and equipment such as planers, jointers, shaper, routers, sanders and various power saws * Assemble prepared components for wood flooring projects; athletic, commercial, and residential flooring * Assist in preparing finish applications by installing, repairing, standing and finishing wood floors * Read and interpret plans, sketches and shop drawings * Maintain and clean equipment and work area * This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or efforts associated with the position What We re Looking For: * Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience is required * Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings * Prior experience and success in the assembly and installation, repair, sand and finish of wood flooring experience is required * Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner * Ability to communicate well with project manager and supervisors * Foster positive teamwork relationships * Must have a valid driver s license and reliable transportation * Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and physical exam Working Conditions/Physical Requirements * Ability to lift 50 lbs * Stand or walk for 8+ hours * Must have ability to lift both arms overhead * Must possess keen vision and hearing * Ability to work outdoors, indoors in extreme temperatures, in confined spaces, high places and in excavated areas * Must be able to climb a ladder, scaffolding and stairs * Must be able to kneel, stoop and squat often * Ability to swing a hammer * Arm, hand & finger dexterity with both hands involved in activities such as reaching, handling and feeling * Ability to use hands and power tools * May work around chemicals, near grinding and torching, and near cranes and moving equipment * Will work in close contact with other people Haldeman-Homme Holdings Inc and its subsidiaries are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
