The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide financial reporting and analysis while being responsible for grants management and budget functions. They will supervise two employees in the unit. This is a full-time (100%), exempt, P&A position in the Law School's Finance Department. The position is hybrid, with the flexibility of working remotely up to 2 or 3 days weekly. Salary Salary is dependent upon experience and qualification. The salary range is between $90,000 - $100,000. Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis (30%) Preparation of monthly and annual reports for business divisions and sponsored projects Lead recurring meetings with department leaders and project partners to review financial outcomes, provide variance to budget analysis, and proactively identify risks and opportunities. Development of partner presentations, reporting, and annual planning exercises with direction from the CFO. Project Budget Preparation & Grants Administration (30%) Serve as liaison between project leaders (principal investigators) and the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA). Maintain knowledge of university policy and grant compliance and assist principal investigators with navigation throughout the project lifecycle. This includes budget preparation, proposal submission, project kickoff, and project monitoring. Handle all Purchase and Travel Card queries and issue resolution. Perform duties of a Certified Approver and attend training, as necessary. Leadership & Process Optimization (30%) Directly supervise two Finance Professionals. Handle workflow, ensure timely resolution of faculty and staff inquiries, and provide assistance with issue resolution. Ensure financial processes maintain compliance with University policy. Recommend and implement solutions for operational improvement and workflow optimization. Serve as project leader for analysis and reporting projects. Other Duties as Assigned (10%) Coordinate special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed. Preparation of TDX requests, as requested by the CFO. Qualifications Required: BA/BS degree with at least 6 years of experience within a finance or accounting setting. Experience with fund accounting and grants management. Strong communication skills, with a consistent record to provide variance analysis to team members. The ability to communicate the meaning of financial data to individuals who do not have a finance background. The ability to build and update financial reporting from university systems. Preferred: Experience within the University of Minnesota or other higher education environment preferred. Certified Approver status. Becoming a Certified Approver will be required within the first 3 months (training provided). Experience with university and grants managements systems such as PeopleSoft, TDX, Grants.gov, and EGMS.
