The position is responsible for all aspects of the Dean's Office operating budgets as well as all financial support in other areas of the Dean's Office. The position will also act interact with the University of Minnesota Foundation and University of Minnesota Physicians on behalf of the Dean's Office. This position is based out of Minneapolis, MN and is eligible for hybrid work-from-home and/or on-campus work dependent upon individual performance and organizational need. Because the University of Minnesota is a land-grant institution that serves the state, residing in Minnesota is typically required. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 50% Medical School Administration (MSA) Budget Management Assist MSA divisions with budget development and meet with divisions quarterly regarding their finances Run and analyze monthly reports for MSA units Answer questions and provide guidance to MSA units regarding their budgets Develop final budgets and enter them into EFS Develop and provide budget reports for Director of Finance and Accounting Grant accounting and reporting for sponsored projects in MSA Ad hoc reporting as requested 25% Compensation Oversee MSA compensation and perform adjustments as needed, such as correcting payroll default chartstrings, changing distributions, and performing retro distributions Serve as a liaison between MSA units and the Human Resources team to ensure appointments are set up accurately and to help them resolve compensation issues as they arise Serve as liaison between the MSA and other Medical School, other University of Minnesota colleges, and University of Minnesota Physicians 20% Miscellaneous Accounting Duties Maintain the Chart of Accounts for MSA units Coordinate year-end activities for MSA Prepare and analyze billing for Continuing Professional Development ISO/ESO Work with units to develop ISO rates within MSA Enter invoices to draw funds down from University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) Upload journal entries into the Enterprise Financial System (EFS) Serve as a backup approver in EFS and Chrome River for MSA units Enter RFA Closeouts in EFS 5% Special Projects and Other Duties as Assigned Qualifications Required Qualifications: BA/BS plus at least four years of professional work experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal eight years. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Familiarity with University systems such as PeopleSoft HRMS, EFS, UM Analytics, ECRT and EGMS In-depth knowledge of accounting principles for research and departmental accounts and University policy, procedures and guidelines. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage priorities, coordinate multiple assignments simultaneously, and meet deadlines Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively to financial and non-financial audiences, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated customer service experience. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong technical, problem solving and process improvement skills Analytical skills, ability to gather, organize and present data in a meaningful w y Experience managing finances for units with diverse funding sources to include: forecasting, analysis, budgeting, and complex reporting.
