UMPhysicians Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Neuro Critical Care) - Part Time in Minneapolis, Minnesota

University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the M Health Fairview Neurocritical Care team.In this role, you will work with a collaborative team of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and administrative staff to provide comprehensive care within the Neuroscience Service Line. Patients are cared for at the University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview East Bank Hospital on the University of Minnesota campus. This position is currently inpatient-focused. Part time .5 FTE. The PA or NP is an experienced member of the health care team who collaborates with physicians, fellows, residents and other care team members to provide comprehensive healthcare services to Neurocritical Care patients. This includes, but is not limited to, history and physicals, bedside procedures, daily progress notes, diagnostic testing result evaluation, discharge orders, planning and summaries. The Neurocritical Care service provides primary coverage of Neuro ICU patients, co-management of Neurosurgical patients who require ICU stay, and provides consult services for all other internal hospital ICU teams. The PA or NP functions as a communication liaison between patient/family, consultants, and multi-professional teammates. As a member of the team of Neuro Intensivist physicians, the PA/NP actively collaborate with and mentor students, Neurology and Neurosurgical residents, Neurology Stroke and Critical Care fellows on their rotations in the Neuro ICU. The schedule for this position is a rotating 12-hour shifts with coverage 7 days a week including all holidays that are shared evenly across the APP team with weekend rotation of every four weeks. Currently the APP team does not cover night shifts for the service. Benefits: *Continuing education (CME) funds *5 days (40 hours) of CME in addition to generous flexible time off *Wellness Funds *Medical/dental insurance *Tuition reimbursement *Generous retirement contribution 401k program *Reimbursement for BLS, ACLS, ENLS Position Qualifications: The qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Nurse Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate program, able to maintain a MN license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in accordance with MN Statute 148.171 and in compliance with the MN Board of Nursing regulations or as a Physician Assistant (PA) in accordance with MN Statute 147.09A and in compliance with the MN Board of Medical Practice regulation, obtain and hold certification from a nationally approved APRN certification body relevant to area of clinical practice or certification by the National Commission for the Certification of PAs (NCCPA), and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges. Candidates should have a desire to learn and perform advanced bedside procedures including placement of central venous lines, arterial lines, lumbar puncture, and procedural sedation.Selected candidate will be asked to complete the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support course and to attend a hospital procedure course, unless previously credentialed for hospital procedures, in the first six months of employment. A complete and rigorous onboarding orientation for critical and neurocritical care will be provided.Candidates should be comfortable having a high degree of autonomy and decision making as well as willing to collaborate and communicate effectively across multiple care teams and interprofessional interactions. New graduat s will be considered, but strongly prefer candidates that have several years of related experience working in critical care or neurocritical care previously (RN, Paramedic, etc.). Preferred Qualifications: *Neurocritical Care APP experience *Experience working in a critical care setting for a minimum of 3 years *For APRNs, graduate of an accredited Acute Care NP Program *Graduate of a Critical Care or Neurocritical Care APP Residency/Fellowship program *Current ACLS, ENLS, NIHSS certifications Community Information: .
