Patent Technical Specialist

Barnes & Thornburg is seeking a Patent Technical Specialist to support our patent prosecution practice, with a focus on electrical engineering patents. This position will work closely with our team of patent attorneys to assist in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting research, and providing technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with patent attorneys to prepare and file patent applications related to electrical engineering inventions.
Conduct prior art searches and patentability assessments.
Assist in the review and analysis of office actions from the USPTO and other global patent offices.
Draft responses to office actions.
Manage and maintain patent dockets, ensuring deadlines are met.
Stay current with changes in patent law and regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
Strong understanding of electrical engineering and related concepts and technologies.
Prior experience working in patent law or a related field.
Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
