This position assists in the design, execution, and dissemination of research focused on mechanisms underlying neuroadaptations, neurodegeneration, and behavioral deficits observed in mouse models of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Work entails: 75% Laboratory Research * Performs, analyzes and interprets research results on the pathological mechanisms engaged by Ab, tau, and alpha-synuclein * Investigates pharmacologic and genetic interventions that can ameliorate or restore deficits provoked by AD-related pathogenic factors in cell-based and behavioral models * Employs a wide variety of experimental techniques including but not limited to mouse behavioral studies, in vitro and ex vivo electrophysiology, primary cell culture and viral transduction, imaging, and protein biochemistry * Trains junior lab members in project-related techniques 10% Experimental Design * Reads relevant scientific literature to understand the context of the project, and glean new information that can help inform research * Creates methods to meet specific research needs and to assist in development of new laboratory techniques. 10% Dissemination * Preparation of abstracts and manuscripts describing project outcomes * Participation at relevant local and external scientific conferences * Preparation of grant and fellowship applications designed to secure sponsored funding for the proposed research 5% General lab support * Assistance with maintaining a safe and organized work environment * Care and maintenance of project-related equipment * Participation at weekly group meetings Qualifications Qualifications: MD or PhD or equivalent in a biological science.
