As the Principal – Operating Unit (OU) Savings Programs, you will be a key member of Medtronic’s center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team working across indirect spend categories and business units to identify and implement savings programs. In this global role, you will partner with stakeholders across sourcing category teams, functions, regions, and businesses to drive savings and improve operating margin. Reporting to the Global ISM Leader you will utilize your strong business acumen, consulting skillset, and prior sourcing experience to lead cost saving initiatives, improve operating processes, and enhance reporting and analytic capabilities.

This role is based in the Twin Cities with a hybrid in-office option.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Create value in targeted functions, regions, and operating unit, by identifying and leading savings initiatives in partnership with the Finance organization and business CFOs

  • Work independently to build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers

  • Develop and implement savings and process improvement strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage for Medtronic

  • Lead process improvement and reporting & analytic initiatives in the indirect sourcing value chain

  • Achieve year-on-year savings targets

  • Support category-led supplier management and RF(x) events where necessary to achieve savings targets

  • Opportunity to lead strategic programs to drive savings and margin improvement at the enterprise-level

  • Engage and influence multiple stakeholders to adopt and implement strategies developed by category teams; Medtronic is a highly matrixed organization and having the ability to influence and leverage the matrix is a key requirement

  • Interact and partner with Finance, IT, Legal, and other key stakeholder groups

  • Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement, and present ideas to leadership

  • Advise internal stakeholders with a balanced view of supplier and contract risk and liabilities and advocate for their interests

  • Gather market intelligence and industry trends; use market benchmarking to justify and rationalize deal terms to Medtronic cross-functional teams and leadership

  • Educate and train stakeholders on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies

  • Work alongside experienced and motivated colleagues who are collaborative, creative and know how to have fun

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • Complementary experience in Procure-to-pay value stream, Procurement technology, Spend analytics, Financial analysis

  • Track record of progression managing programs and known as a self-starter

  • Fluent with contracts and procurement systems

  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen

  • Demonstrated leadership, customer service, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, judgment, and organizational skills

  • Aptitude to prioritize and juggle many high-visibility projects at the same time and deal with ambiguity

  • Experience working in a large global organization

  • 5+ years of relevant business experience in the following areas:

  • 2 years of consulting or process improvement experience, with requisite project or program management skills

  • 3 years of Indirect Procurement working in a Category-led environment with responsibility for enterprise-level agreements

  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Experience influencing and leading internal teams and external suppliers to deliver results

  • Ability to partner with and influence senior leadership

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$104,800.00 - $157,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
