This role requires meticulous attention to detail for asset record management, ensuring data security and providing proof of data destruction for sensitive devices. Leveraging experience in e-waste sales and general reuse operations, the specialist plays a crucial role in diverting e-waste from landfills while generating revenue for the University. Responsibilities: * Receive, evaluate, and process incoming e-waste for reuse or responsible disposal, adhering to program guidelines and environmental regulations. * Assess value and pricing based on usability, condition, and function of e-waste, considering data security implications. * Refurbish and repair recoverable e-waste to enhance value and extend lifespan. * Maintain meticulous asset records for all e-waste received, documenting data wiping/destruction procedures for compliance and security. * Organize and stage e-waste for resale in the warehouse, ensuring clear identification and accessibility. * Manage inventory system, tracking incoming and outgoing e-waste weight and value for data collection and reporting. * Photograph and list e-waste available for reuse on auction websites with accurate descriptions and device specifications. * Assist campus customers in finding suitable e-waste.. * Address customer inquiries regarding e-waste policies, procedures, and data security practices. * Prepare e-waste for pick-up and assist customers with loading from the warehouse. * Handle customer payments, calculating applicable sales tax and ensuring secure transactions. * Stay updated on e-waste regulations and best practices for data security and responsible disposal. Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in a warehouse environment with potential exposure to dust and noise. Proper personal protective equipment will be provided. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Ability to meet the physical requirements of the assignment. 6 months general laborer experience. * Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. * A valid Minnesota Driver's License (A or C Class) may be required for some positions. Preferred Qualifications: * Post-high school education and experience in e-waste recycling or reuse operations totaling four years. * Proven knowledge of data security practices and procedures for wiping/destroying data from electronic devices. * Demonstrated experience selling computers and other e-waste in an auction, retail or similar setting. * Working knowledge of inventory management systems and practices. * Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. frequently, and over 50 lbs. occasionally. * Strong customer service skills and experience interacting with diverse audiences. * Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management. * Strong attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping ability. * Familiarity with data security regulations and compliance requirements.
