Trinity Health Registered Nurse RN Progressive Care in Mishawaka, Indiana

Our Critical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurses care for patients who are not serious enough to be in ICU, but not stable enough to go to a Med Surg Unit. You will work with patients involving Cardiac based care (HF, Arrythmias, STEMI/ NSTEMI, electrolyte imbalances, hypo/hyper-tension, post cardiac surgical interventions), plus a variety of other serious diagnoses i.e. strokes, cancer, renal failure, sepsis, OD, seizures, diabetes, etc. PCU is a great place if you’re looking for a challenge or for new Nurses with a long-term goal of working in ICU, SICU, ED, Cath Lab, Leadership, etc.

About the job:

As a Registered Nurse in Critical Progressive Care (PCU) at Saint Joseph Health System you are responsible for implementing, directing, communicating, and documenting the nursing process in accordance with current established standards of care and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Our RNs are patient advocates who provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.

PCU allows you to learn and utilize advanced skills such as:

  • Cardiac rhythms

  • Cardiac drug administration

  • Tracheostomy Care

  • Chest tube management

  • NIH Stroke Certified

  • BLS / ACLS

PCU provides the opportunity to participate on the:

  • Rapid Response Team

  • Code Blue Team

  • Unit Council

  • Many Committees (skin, mobility, sharps, falls)

  • Evidence Based Practice project endorsement

  • Proficiency in bedside procedures

  • TTE’s, Cardioversions

Requirements:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program.

  • Licensure: RN Indiana License. CPR certification on hire or able to attain within 60 days.

  • Experience: None.
