General Manager – Wesko Locks

Business Unit : Wesko Lock

Location : Mississauga, Ontario Canada

Reports to : President, High Security Group

Job Type : Full-Time / OnSite

The General Manager will lead the Wesko Locks team in developing and deploying an effective business strategy and ensuring organizational alignment while providing strong leadership with a heavy emphasis on Market Growth through OEM relationships, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement.

The General Manager ensures that products are developed and marketed to meet existing and emerging market needs and are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives. The General Manager maintains strong working relationships with key customers.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes manufacturing policies and practices in the areas of Lean techniques, materials management, capacity planning, production scheduling, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures.

  • Principal liaison with offshore manufacturing partners to ensure the highest quality components are manufactured that meet the engineering and customer requirements.

  • Leads the Product Engineering team to assure that Wesko’s offering meets market needs and that pricing levels assure healthy growth and profitability.

  • Ensures compliance with Company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, environmental responsibility, inventory management, and Company employment policies / guidelines including the Code of Conduct

  • Oversees company budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements

  • Recommends and implements strategic changes in business and operations strategy.

  • Builds, develops and manages business leaders capable of carrying out needed market requirements, operations strategies and improving employee relations.

  • Oversee local Human Resources management to ensure effective hiring, on-boarding, disciplinary actions, compensation, training, internal communications and documentation improve; Employee Development, Safety and Wellness, Associate Engagement

  • Identifies and proactively raises organizational issues and trends; recommends alternatives for improved effectiveness.

  • Implements cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures and manpower.

  • Establishes and monitors operational performance through daily Gemba walks and regular “Pulse” meetings.

  • Ensures compliance with province and federal regulations, including those related to waste treatment and overall environmental responsibility, and ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct

  • Assesses and builds leadership bench-strength and organizational capabilities as well as creates a collaborative high performance work environment.

  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate operational performance and improved working relationships.

  • Actively engages / communicates with all levels of the organization; drives efforts to promote employee engagement. Promotes and fosters a culture of collaboration, cooperation and communication.

    Requirements / Education

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering.

  • 10+ Years of hands-on experience in OEM related manufacturing environment managing professional and hourly resources

  • Experience in Product Management, New Product Development, and Product Pricing

  • Must be self-directed, well organized and have good follow-up skills.

  • Strong record of continuous improvement success

  • Supply chain management experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills.

  • Solid PC skills including proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Strong ERP experience a plus
