In this role you will support product development work for a variety of Assa Abloy initiatives. In addition, you will provide technical support to legacy customers of the AvericsUnity Physical Access Control platform.

The team’s mandate is to develop new solutions and enhance existing solutions for multiple Assa Abloy businesses. Ideally the candidate would have 3 to 5 years of field experience with commercial or enterprise Electronic Access Control systems and is looking to expand their horizons. Job Summary

What you would do as our Product Support Specialist, is support the product development teams with your knowledge of field hardware. We are looking for someone who will support the business with mechanical and electromechanical products. Take a hands-on approach to creating Demo and Test environments. Assisting the team by providing expertise in working with controllers and other field devices. Demonstrating solutions developed by the team to other Assa Abloy teams. This would include product proof of concepts to new offerings ready for commercialization. Occasionally this role will require some troubleshooting of legacy systems for End Users and Integrators.

Ideally the candidate would have experience with HID, Mercury Security and Assa Abloy field devices, but expertise with other hardware brands would also be valuable. This role will be based in Mississauga. Travel is not a regular expectation for this role.

Skills and Expertise

  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware issues.

  • Act as a liaison between developers, quality, engineering, and manufacturing personnel.

  • Maintaining prompt and effective inter and intra-team communication.

  • Provide training to new team members as required.

  • Maintain knowledge of all changes and new products in area of responsibility.

  • Comfortable working with SQL and running scripts.

  • Understand competitive products and how ASSA ABLOY's products compare and exceed ratings and specifications.

  • Participate in all relevant training to increase product and industry knowledge, including factory visits.

  • Participate in Monthly software demos and intra team demos.

  • Provide Technical Support to legacy system sites as required.

    We are looking for someone who has:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics or mechanical/manufacturing engineering or related technical diploma or relevant industry experience.

  • Experience in Electronic Access Control or Building Management Systems or related field.

  • Proven ability to deal with a high level of confidentiality as it pertains Intellectual Property.

  • Ideally you will have a strong understanding of front-end systems and integration between systems.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adjust communication style to the audience as required.

  • Troubleshooting hardware, identify specific issues.

  • Ability to understand issues quickly and assess the best solutions in a timely manner and follow up until issues are completely resolved.

  • Flexibility and ease in moving between systems and tasks on a constant basis with ease.

  • The ability to act independently, take initiative, multi-task and drive tasks and issues to resolution.

  • Ideally you will have a strong understanding of the front-end systems and integration into systems.

  • Familiar with mechanical and physical security.

  • Exposure to Controller Hardware or other multi-product industries and ability to understand and trouble shoot multiple product lines.
