T he Corporate Consolidation Manager plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for the organization and reports to the Global Director of Finance & Accounting (Controller).This position involves overseeing the consolidation process, managing financial data to assist in our company’s strategic planning, and collaborating with various departments to streamline reporting procedures. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, a deep understanding of accounting principles to analyze complex accounting issues, and strong managerial capabilities.
Responsibilities include:
Quarterly/Annual Financial Consolidation:
+ + Lead and oversee the consolidation process of 50+ companies around the world using SAP software.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (such as IFRS, Canadian ASPE) during the consolidation process.
Prepare consolidated financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
Financial Reporting:
- Lead the preparation of the quarterly and annual report to shareholders
Analyze variances in financial statement categories at the global level (used by CFO and CEO)
Review annual financial statements of stand-alone entities meeting local accounting requirements as well as review annual financial statements that are prepared by our subsidiary offices around the world.
Understand differences in IFRS / ASPE (some subsidiaries report to head office under IFRS)
Collaborate with finance teams across our global regions to collect and validate financial data.
Audit and Compliance:
- Coordinate the global year end audit with external auditors and support local audits around the world
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
Address any audit findings related to consolidation and financial reporting.
On-going/Adhoc:
- Complex / new accounting issues affecting Canada or other countries – determine appropriate accounting treatment for various complex / technical accounting issues that may arise (i.e. new standards, revenue recognition, etc.)
Acquisitions - participate in due diligence, acquisition accounting including purchase price equations, intangible asset support, acquisition memos for year-end audit.
Assist / advise on accounting matters for companies in countries new to Hatch.
Assist with global income & cashflow projections.
Prepare finance presentations for senior executives.
Perform / review internal audits of specific accounting functions across different companies worldwide.
Process Improements:
- Continuously evaluate and enhance the consolidation process to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Implement best practices and automation tools to streamline reporting procedures.
Work closely with IT teams to optimize financial systems and reporting software.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation
5-10 years of experience in public accounting, large firm or industry experience preferred.
Proficiency in financial reporting software SAP/ BW Analysis reporting tool is an asset, but not necessary as training will be provided.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles (such as IFRS and Canadian ASPE).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex data sets.
