General Electric Wind Turbine Generator Engineering Manager in Montgomery, Alabama
The Wind Turbine Generator Engineering Manager will own the technical leadership and strategy on the design of generators for wind turbine applications. In this role, you will execute business critical new product introductions, drive cost-out competitiveness, develop technology to increase AEP / reduce costs, and ensure world-class performance.
As the Wind Turbine Generator Engineering Manager, you will:
Build and lead a global team of 10+ engineers for wind turbine generator design
Lead the strategy, new technology, new design, fulfillment and sustaining efforts for wind turbine generators, ensuring compliance and adherence to GE Renewables Engineering processes
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with Segment leaders, Supply Chain and Global Research Center to execute strategy, grow share / profitability and deliver for customers
Align with the segment engineering team on priorities and deliverables for wind turbine generators, driving cost and performance for these components
Develop technology that meets the market segment needs, and drives efficiency and added AEP for customer sites
Engage with customers to drive their success through fleet monitoring and issue resolution
Partner with stakeholders to drive corrective and preventative actions to deliver world-class quality for wind turbine generators
Develop and execute customer facing and internal digital strategy for generators
Execute testing and validation plans for components
Provide leadership with high integrity and oversight of processes, protecting intellectual property, export controlled information and strategic technology
Create an engineering mindset for excellent design of manufacturability and design for reliability
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Rotatingmachinery design or manufacturing experience
Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time
EU Work Permit (if applicable)
8+ years of proven generator / electrical / power conversion technology experience
Master's Degree / PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college and/or equivalent knowledge / experience
Wind industry expertise with proven results developing and implementing component design
Design for manufacturability, design for reliability and design to cost experience
Rotating machinery design and/or manufacturing experience
DFIG design and manufacturing knowledge
Power conversion experience
Experience establishing vision, and building / leading teams to successful customer and business outcomes
Clear thinker: communicates in clear, concise manner / drives clarity in ambiguous situations
Strong interpersonal skills with presence, high credibility and ability to develop relationships
Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges
