POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Analyst, Investment Valuation and Accounting is responsible for the fair value of the BDC Capital investment portfolio for the purpose of financial reporting for both the direct and indirect portfolio. Additionally, support for the accounting and financial reporting of the investment group including direct investments and various partnerships/funds, ensuring that all financial reporting is in accordance with IFRS.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Prepare and present valuations to valuation committee semi-annually
Key participant in the BDC Capital Fair Value Mark to Market, progress to lead new business units’ Fair Value.
Review and when necessary, challenge Fair Value recommendations
Support indirect/funds’ valuation every quarter.
Support and backup Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Financial Reporting
Support calculation for Long Term Incentive Plans
Value-add Special Projects for BDC Capital
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance)
Professional valuation designation (CBV)
Other professional designations an asset (CPA, CFA)
Minimum 5 years experience in valuation
Minimum 3 years experience in accounting and/or financial audit
Strong financial, accounting and analytical skills
Strong knowledge of MS Excel
Experience valuing investments in Venture Capital and Private Equity backed companies.
Strong ability to learn and implement policies and procedures.
Strong ability to work under pressure and meet set deadlines.
Ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
Initiative & creativity
Strong teamwork skills and ability to foster relationships with internal customers.
Bilingual in English and French
