Summary

The Bell Mobility Government, Public Safety and Instant Communications Pre-Sales Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Senior Specialist to support the complex designs of public safety and commercial Land Mobile Radio (LMR) solutions and Private Mobile Networks (PMN). The role includes developing and managing the technical content for LMR/ PMR system proposals, development of turn-key system designs including Statements of Work and solution costing, and supporting the development of business cases.

The selected candidate will work with other Bell product, business and network teams, to develop and manage custom wireless communications solutions for government, public safety, and private enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent reports to the Senior Manager, Pre-Sales Engineering, and has the following responsibilities:

  • Interface with customers and sales account managers to assess technical requirements and work internally with Bell groups to deliver complete solutions to business customers;

  • Ensure that our customers' operational & IT objectives are fully reflected in Bell's solution portfolios. Assess the technical feasibility and economic viability of the solutions proposed to customers;

  • Prepare and manage the technical content of business proposals and responses to invitations to bid for complex instant communications solutions;

  • Stay current with evolving technology; research various suppliers, evaluate new products and make recommendations on end-to-end solutions;

Critical Qualifications

  • The preferred incumbent must have a college or university degree in electrical engineering or telecommunications, and a sound knowledge of systems engineering, wireless network operations, and LMR industry standards such as P25, DMR, Tetra networks and protocols;

  • Understanding and/or experience of other wireless protocols, networks and devices (WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE, etc.) is a valuable asset;

  • The incumbent must also have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the LMR telecommunications sector, along with solid communication skills. A knowledge of networking with industry recognized certifications is an important asset;

  • Demonstrated experience working with P25 technologies from major vendors such as Motorola, L3Harris, JVCKenwood, and Tait Communications;

  • Familiarity with radio sites, dispatch consoles, and user equipment (mobile, portable radios) is required;

  • Possess solid working knowledge of WAN technologies (VPN’s, SDWAN, MPLS, Layer 2 Services, etc.)

  • In the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders across Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • The incumbent must have a variety of skills, be able to work independently, and have excellent analytical, organizational, planning and project management skills. In addition, the incumbent;

  • Must be a strong technical writer and capable to identify key messages based on customer needs

  • Must be a strong client facing communicator and be able to give presentations to a variety of audiences;

  • Must be able to work effectively with virtual and multidisciplinary teams;

  • Must be able to work under pressure in an environment where priorities are changing;

  • Must demonstrate a sense of urgency in meeting requests which are sometimes numerous;

  • Must have a solid working knowledge of MS Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio
