CIBC Operations Analyst, Trade Settlements and Reconciliations - Bilingual in Montréal, Quebec

What you’ll be doing

The Trade Settlements and Reconciliations, Operations Analyst, will be responsible for day to day trade settlement and reconciliation functions. The Specialist will monitor, investigate more complex trade settlement issues for varying security types (USD/CAD & INTL). You will work with brokers and custodian banks to resolve trade settlement problems in a timely manner.

The Specialist, will also be responsible for performing daily cash and monthly asset reconciliation of complex mutual funds and institutional accounts. You will process adjustments in our accounting system accurately and in a timely manner. You will make regular follow ups with custodians to clear all outstanding items in your reconciliation team. You will follow all Procedural and Operational controls. Overtime will be requested to support the business operations and meet operational requirements and deadlines.

​You may participate in various ad hoc assignments including new projects.

How you’ll succeed

  • Being Analytical - ​Process trade corrections on any identified errors. Work with compliance and various other teams on the reporting of these errors.

  • Attention to Detail -Maintain broker and custodian information accurately within the trading system and various other systems. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.

  • Operational Functions - Individual must be familiar with a variety of equity, fixed income and international including experience in operationally supporting post trade processing for trade matching, confirmation, trade settlement and regulatory reporting. Requirement to follow all procedures and controls within the Operations team.

  • Leveraging technology - Computer literacy skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must.

  • Team Player & Effective Communicator – This position requires strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills; exceptional analytical and organizational skills, ability to work in a team environment, with a positive and professional attitude.

  • Effective Time Management - ​Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to effectively multi-task.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with multiple concurrent deadlines - Able to work with a positive and professional attitude and with high level of accuracy.

Who you are

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business.

  • You’re a certified professional. You have successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) (asset)

  • You have Investment Operations experience (considered an asset)

  • You have Securities Industry knowledge preferred (considered an asset)

  • You have trade settlements experience preferred (considered an asset)
