Atlantic Health System Manager, Finance in Morristown, New Jersey

Atlantic Health System is seeking a skilled Manager of Finance to join our team. The Manager of Finance will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting financial data, contributing to strategic decision-making, and ensuring the hospital's financial health. The ideal candidate is curious about numbers, data, business, and healthcare; Operations-based mindset is a plus. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about a diverse range of hospital finances and be part of the core leadership team for the 735 licensed-bed flagship AHS hospital.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Collaborate with the CFO and Finance team to develop, monitor, and analyze financial performance metrics, budgets, and forecasts.

  • Generate detailed financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, variance analyses, and trend reports.

  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, outliers, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.

  • Assist in preparation of annual operating budget for the site. Work with budget analyst and CFO in troubleshooting any issues.

  • Work with the accounting team to facilitate month end close and variance reporting.

  • Utilize cost accounting system to provide contribution margin analysis report to aid in strategic decision making.

  • Assist in the development and evaluation of strategic financial plans, capital expenditure proposals, and business cases for new initiatives.

  • Provide support in evaluating the financial impact of potential contracts, partnerships, and business development opportunities.

  • Monitor and assess key performance indicators (KPIs) related to hospital operations, revenue generation, and expense management.

  • Contribute to the preparation of financial presentations for executive leadership and board meetings.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial models and scenarios to support long-term financial planning and risk assessment.

  • Participate in the annual budgeting process, providing insights and recommendations to align budget allocations with strategic goals.

  • Support ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as directed by the CFO.

  • Analyze the productivity metrics across MMC and assist departments (as needed).

  • Work with the CNO and Nursing Leadership in creating appropriate staffing plans.

  • Create and present educational sessions to hospital management as part of Fiscal Committee.

  • Update agency staffing template bi-weekly for the CFO.

  • Assist (as needed) with on-site productivity meetings with department leadership and staff.

  • Attend Daily Operational Huddle and speak to areas of financial concern.

  • Attend monthly Patient Care Management Council and present on Finance matters.

  • Attend monthly Fiscal Committee Meetings and inform team of Finance updates.

  • Oversee and review work done by finance team.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in healthcare finance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a managerial role, preferably within a healthcare or hospital environment.

  • Proficient with MS Office Applications.

  • Knowledge of Oracle, HPM, EPIC and Axiom strongly preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.

  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong sense of accountability.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and reimbursement methodologies is advantageous.

  • Strong ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
