Duration: College Year (this position follows the 10-month academic schedule)

Brief Description of Duties:

SUNY Morrisville seeks an Instructional Support Technician to assist our School of Nursing Faculty, Staff, and Students.

The successful candidate for this position will have passion for supporting our next generation of nursing professionals, and the skills to help enhance learning experiences. This person will work to ensure our Nursing Program meets our campus philosophy and mission, current nursing and health care trends, and community and societal needs to prepare graduates for practice in complex, dynamic, multicultural health care environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

Instructional Support & Curriculum Development

  • Support Nursing Faculty with development and implementation of instructional methods, practices, and procedures that promote growth of high-quality critical thinking, clinical reasoning, sound decision-making and clinical competency, that is supportive to differing learning needs, styles, and outcomes.

  • Assists students on an individual or small group basis with nursing skills practice, instructs students in the skills laboratory setting, assists with clinical simulations.

  • Instructing laboratory content of NURS 120 and 150

  • Assists students with utilizing online learning resources.

  • Collaborate with the Nursing Lab Coordinator in planning and scheduling to effectively utilize lab resources.

  • Prepare lab resources for students and faculty use and assists with maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies.

  • Collects and maintains statistics related to laboratory usage and communicates to the Campus Laboratory Coordinator.

Student Mentorship & Continuous Learning

  • Acting as a mentor for students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Serving as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, continuous learning, and growth.

  • Posts and maintains office hours weekly, as required, for individual student needs outside instructional time.

  • Engages in effective advisement and counseling strategies that assist learners to meet their personal and professional goals.

  • Contributes to the SUNY Morrisville campus community through participation in division and campus committees and activities.

  • Applies knowledge of legal and ethical issues relevant to nursing and higher education as a basis for influencing, designing, and implementing policies and procedures related to students in the educational setting of the nursing laboratory.

  • Maintains the professional knowledge base needed to facilitate the education of learners in preparation for contemporary nursing practice.

    Job Requirements:

  • Accredited Master's Degree (or higher) in Nursing field, or Accredited Bachelors of Nursing and currently enrolled in an Accredited Master's program in Nursing

  • 2 years of clinical experience

  • Current unencumbered NYS RN registration

  • Strong computer skills and ability to adapt to technology changes.
