Job Description Summary:

As an Instructional Designer for our Financial Crime Risk Management Training and Delivery Team, you will play a key role in developing high-quality training materials and resources to support the effective delivery of financial crime risk management programs. Your expertise in instructional design principles will contribute to the development of engaging and impactful learning experiences for our participants.

The Senior L&D Designer consults, scopes, recommends, and ensures effective development of high quality, multi-approach blended learning and performance solutions on a variety of learning projects that support business strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, trainers, and other stakeholders to analyze training needs and define learning objectives for financial crime risk management programs.

  • Design and develop instructional materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led presentations, participant guides, assessments, and other learning resources, that align with defined learning objectives and instructional strategies.

  • Utilize instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), to create effective and engaging training content.

  • Incorporate interactive elements, multimedia components, and scenario-based learning experiences to enhance learner engagement and retention.

  • Incorporate adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to optimize knowledge retention and transferability.

  • Ensure training materials comply with bank policies, industry regulations and best practices in financial crime prevention.

  • Conduct thorough reviews and quality assurance checks of training materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.

  • Piloting and evaluating training materials with diverse audiences to gather feedback and make iterative improvements.

  • Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging trends in instructional design, and advancements in learning technologies to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.

  • Provide guidance and support to trainers and facilitators in effectively delivering training content and implementing instructional strategies during training sessions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including graphic designers, multimedia specialists, and technology experts, to create visually appealing and technically sound training materials.

  • Supports large enterprise/multiple business line projects

  • Highly seasoned professional role requiring substantial knowledge/expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas

  • Handles projects with high risk profile, CEO deliverables or with business strategic imperatives

  • Integrates knowledge of the enterprise sub-function’s or business line’s overarching strategy in developing solutions across multiple functions or operations

  • Acts as a technical expert/lead integrating cross function understanding within their own field of specialty; may coach/guide junior designers with subject related expertise

  • Leads cross-functional projects with significant resource requirements, risk and/or complexity

  • Independently manages end-to-end functional programs

  • Solves or may lead others to solve complex problems; leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience; degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training and Development, or a related field preferred

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Proficiency in instructional design software tools, learning management systems (LMS), and multimedia authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to design innovative learning solutions that address diverse learning needs and preferences.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities as needed.

  • Advanced degree or professional certification in instructional design or e-learning development preferred.

  • Possesses deep subject matter expertise in the area of design, along with knowledge of external design best practices, emerging trends, and vendors.

  • Adaptable and flexible to change.

  • Ability to take strategic direction and follow through with execution plans.

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Recommends the curation of learning solutions leveraging existing assets while identifying any net new development required

  • Conducts comprehensive learning needs analyses for more complex projects to enable the most innovative design and delivery of detailed learning recommendations

  • Collaborates with L&D partners to build business requirements, training plans and other documents to enable effective design and development

  • Conducts reviews post implementation against critical success factors and incorporates the learnings/findings into subsequent projects and programs for continuous improvement

  • Oversees the management of projects to deliver timely, high quality consistent, creative, leading edge learning solutions that positively impact business and TD metrics in partnership

  • Ensures learner accessibility and principles of diversity and inclusion in designing a variety of learning solutions, leveraging established standards and templates where possible

Shareholder Accountabilities:

  • Closely works with L&D partners to design the operational plan for a variety of projects supported – adjusts priorities and direction/focus of work based on changing business needs

  • Adheres to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to the L&D design function

  • Partners with L&D partners to ensure effective and timely business subject matter expert support, delivers comprehensive “train the trainer", transitions and program maintenance processes

  • Champions and owns creation and consistent use of best-in-class common practices, processes and measures across the design/development, program evaluation and learning consulting functions

  • Provides deep subject matter expertise in learning consulting, including knowledge of external best practices, emerging trends, and vendors; maintains best practices in learning consulting; stays current in design, development, program evaluation and measurement

  • Ensures program ownership responsibilities are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)

  • Protects the interests of the organization – identifies and manages risks, and escalates non-standard, high-risk transactions/activities as necessary

  • Monitors service, productivity and assesses efficiency levels within own function and implements continuous process/performance improvements where opportunities exist

  • Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
