The Azure Storage Infrastructure team is hiring for agile and diverse engineering teams in Block devices, filesystems, Hardware offloads, Transports performance, and systems integration.

As a Principal Software Engineer in the Storage Diagnostics, Repair and Safety team, you will architect, design and develop highly scalable distributed systems. You will collaborate with organizations across multiple teams within Azure Storage, Compute and Cloud Infrastructure. Your work will encompass the entire software development lifecycle, including operation, scaling, training, and support. This opportunity will allow you to, Mentor and develop engineers across all levels through sharing and learning and lead technical projects and model the culture of the team.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design complex distributed systems and build consensus.

• Design, build, maintain and operate services with high traffic and high resiliency

• Implement the next generation of Safety, Repair and Diagnostics services.

• Responding to and mitigating any live site issues impacting customers.

• Proficient troubleshooting (debugging) skills.

• Ability to take projects from beginning to end with little direct supervision.

• Teamwork and coordination skills with ability to create clarity from ambiguity.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND senior level technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Pythono OR equivalent experience.

• Experience on design, develop and livesite for large distributed system

• Mid-level or more people management experience

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
