Summary You will serve as a MACHINIST in the Code 1422.2, Shop 94 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will set-up efficiently machines naval ship propellers, dies, and related parts utilizing a five axes CNC Universal Milling machine as the primary machine tool. You will utilized a pitchometer, along with the Laser Tracker as the primary propeller layout and measuring instruments. You will sets up appropriate machine and related equipment, such as dividing heads, taper attachments, jigs, fixtures, boring heads, rotary tables, and the gearing to perform designed operations. You will use shop math to make calculations as necessary in planning. You will preform bench and floor assembly of machined parts to make precision working, and frequently complex assemblies. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION Experience Working from Technical Work Documents in the form of PCI's, ESR's, drawings and blueprints accompanied by oral instructions. Experience adjusting completed assembly and tests for proper operation, such as overhaul and repair of various types of heavy or complex machinery. Experience establishing reference points and lays out a workpiece to provide a means of locating points and surface during machining operations.
