Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NAVAL ARCHITECTURE) in the Structural Engineering Planning Branch (Code 256) of the Structural Engineering and Planning Division (Code 250), Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will provide technical guidance for preparation of lists on drawings or technical work documents (TWD's) required to execute complex projects. You will performs review of a variety of drawings, material specifications, test procedures, and other documents pertaining to assigned complex projects for technical adequacy and compliance with specifications and quality requirements. You will elevate issues requiring professional level engineering evaluation to the proper level to ensure adequate technical review. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing comprehensive knowledge of naval architecture concepts and principles. Experience performing as the technical authority as a result of experienced judgement, and mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of naval architecture engineering. Experience evaluating and applying the latest developments and techniques in solving problems not readily treatable by traditional or accepted methods.
