This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Continuous Improvement Lead will develop, implement and sustain process improvement initiatives. As a trusted advisor on the site leadership team, you will focus on observing, coaching and training cross-functional teams at the Nebraska City, NE Protein site. You will have a pivotal role in building a site culture of problem solving, utilizing established continuous improvement initiatives while developing site specific initiatives to encourage a winning mindset for the Cargill team and customers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and support a collaborative work environment.

  • Monitor and implement continuous improvement best practices.

  • Develop and handle continuous improvement plans for projects with low cost and risk to reach and sustain project goals.

  • Conduct organization readiness assessments, value realization, opportunity prioritization, resource evaluation and execute continuous improvement strategies that meet business needs.

  • Provide updates on project objectives, performance measures, issues and risks to partners and management. Analyze complex, high-quantity, and sometimes contradictory, information to effectively solve problems.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams from other Cargill locations. Collaborate on production excellence best practices and special projects to impact Cargill Protein.

  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR instead of a degree, equivalent experience

  • Four or more years of related work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience influencing without direct authority

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma OR other continuous improvement methodologies

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
