The Position

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is recruiting for one Social Services Program Specialist I position within the Child Support Enforcement in Las Vegas at the Greystone District Office. Responsibilities assigned to this position may include, but are not limited to, researching best practices and identifying performance improvement initiatives; developing and implementing program policies and procedures; compiling and analyzing statistical and financial data; preparing reports for State and Federal entities and executive staff; developing automated systems enhancements; evaluating and monitoring contracts; responding to public inquires; researching and resolving customer services issues; public awareness outreach; analyzing, evaluating, defining, and communicating system requirements and program technical needs to information technology staff; and providing technical assistance, training, and guidance to program staff. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of paraprofessional experience which included providing social services, medical assistance programs services, or health care services to the public and required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR two years of experience as a Family Services Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Additional Position Criteria

This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
